“A disappointment”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2012

Compared to other B&B's we stayed in on our recent holiday to the States we found this one to be very expensive and somewhat lacking in atmosphere. The house is beautiful and in a delightful setting very close to Monticello, Jefferson's house, which we had visited earlier in the day. Our room was comfortable, with a large ensuite shower room, but we missed having a bedside table on each side of the bed and there were no glasses or cups for a nightime drink of water. We were welcomed by Bob who told us about the history of the house and who offered us a glass of wine on arrival. We didn't met Carolyn until the next morning when she introduced herself as she served breakfast. There was no-one around when we left the B&B. We felt that if it hadn't been for the other 2 guests, who were great company, that our stay would have been rather sombre.

For travelers wanting to spend every liesure minute surrounded by history and antiques, the Inn at Monticello is an excellent choice! Lovely and lovingly cared for farm house, filled with antiques and all the amenities one could hope for in a bed-and-breakfast inn. Bob and Carolyn are welcoming, gracious hosts -- and darn good cooks, too! Fresh cookies awaited us every evening and coffee service was ready bright and early. Just minutes from Jefferson's Monticello, boutique shopping, and great food.

We stayed just one night so this is limited. The bed and room were comfortable. The breakfast is only served at 8:30 am (early for a weekend!) and we, of course, missed it, but Jenny was lovely and made up a tray with the fruit and muffins and coffee and we had it in our room later. The Inn is just 2 miles from Monticello (our primary destination) and about 3 to the center of Charlottesville where we had an amzing dinner at Zocalo. All in all a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Note that the rooms on the first floor hear all of the breakfast activity early in the morning. If...

Recently spent 4 days at this inn. Owners very social and hospitable. Breakfast quite good. Excellent location near attractions. Room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Grounds are outstanding.

Room Tip: They are all good.

The Inn at Monticello was the perfect place to spend an anniversary getaway trip. The Inn was very comfortable. Bob and Carolyn were very friendly and helpful in answering our questions regarding the area. The property surrounding the Inn was lovely. It was a real treat to wake up each morning to the wonderful homemade breakfasts. We especially enjoyed our wine tour and the picnic lunch. We are looking forward to a return trip in the fall.

This was my first trip into this part of Virginia. There were lots of choices for B&B's to stay at and almost at random I chose this B&B. My lucky streak continues! This was a very comfortable place to stay. My fiance and I stayed in the Blue Room which was very nice. The "no TV's" in the Inn was a bit of an issue when I first read it but we didn't book a vacation in Virginia to watch TV so no real issue at all. The communal (formal) breakfasts were very tasty and provided us an opportunity to get to know our fellow guests. The Inn itself was very nice, clean and quite comfy. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. I will not hesitate in recommending the Inn to friends and family.

Such a pleasure to stay at this inn. The owners Bob and Carolyn were very hospitable and helpful w/ directions, night dining options etc. Waking up in the morning and going outside on their front porch and exploring their glorious lawn at the foot of the mountains with a hot cup of their signature orange-infused coffee was such a magnificent way to start our day! And such a convenient location, you can actually hike up the mountain to Monticello.

My husband and I felt very welcomed there.

Room Tip: Our "Green Room" was very lovely. I recommend it.
