“A wonderful weekend retreat!”
Reviewed February 21, 2005

We just returned from a Valentine weekend trip to Foxfield Inn. From the minute of our late evening arrival, to our embraced departure, our hosts, Mary Pat and John, created for us an atmosphere of inimitable comfort and flair! Although our stay was only two nights, it felt like a true vacation getaway. From a beautifully appointed and quiet bedroom, to genuinely delicious breakfasts (love those scones and eggs benedict); from the engaging stories they and other guests told, to a variety of day visit choices; the weekend surpased all our expectations and is sure to be a welcome retreat for any and all romantically inclined travelers. We will be sure to make reservations for a return trip next year.

Our first encounter with the Foxfield Inn was to have been a long weekend joining another couple of old and dear friends who were familiar with the Inn. When they unavoidably had to cancel we were on our own. What a fortunate decision to continue with flexible plans and make a weekend on our own.

Mary Pat and John are great hostess and host in a facility that offers all the amenities whatever the season. They were warm, gracious and ready with assistance almost before we knew we needed it. Well knowledgeable about local attractions and the many wonderful places to dine in Charlottesville and environs they were most helpful with suggestions about how to make our stay more enjoyable. Whether it is a historical site, an interesting winery or a great place to eat, Mary Pat and John will have useful information.

With a facility that is comfortable and inviting, attention that is personal without being obtrusive, and a location that is great for varied interests this is a must-do place whatever the time you can get away.

Mary Pat and John offer a wonderfully romantic retreat for any couple. They have arranged a welcoming inn that as soon as you enter you feel as if you have walked into your own home. Mary Pat has thought of everything a couple could want. From homemade cookies to bottled watered to turning down your sheets at night. You have complete privacy and yet if you need help finding your way around the city Mary Pat and John are there to help.

The Foxfield Inn is by far the best bed and breakfast we've ever stayed in. The decor is beautiful, the touch is charming, the location is ideal for any and all excursions, and Mary Pat and John are both wonderful, gracious people who are excellent at making your stay enjoyable and incredibly comfortable. The food is also wonderful, and the price is not bad either. You will not be disappointed!

Mary Pat and John were born to do this. Not one detail is missed. Mary Pat is like a phantom....you go out for awhile, and when you come back, the room is clean and refreshed...you go out for dinner, and when you come back, she has turned down the bed and pulled the shades. Hospitality with a capital H. I recommend it highly.

We enjoyed our stay so much in 2004 that we just had to go back, Jan 31-Feb 4, 2005. Mary Pat is a wonderful cook who doesn't mind sharing her secrets! John was so helpful in directing us to places to visit. Foxfield was as comfortable as home, but with no chores!! The other guests were delightful also - guess they know quality too! We were as well taken care of this time as we were our first trip, and were received as old friends. This won't be our last visit!!
