We just returned from an amazing weekend at Arcady. We live in DC and needed a weekend away, and Arcady was the perfect fit.
Before delving into details, I should note that we are in our late 20s. There was another young couple staying at Arcady at the time so we felt very age-appropriate. There were also two mid-aged friends and an older couple, so I would say everyone would really enjoy this property.
The room: We stayed in the Baron's room. It is one of the middle-grade rooms in term of price, which I wanted because of the balcony with a little bench; it was a really pretty view to wake up to. I also did not want to stay in a place that feels old and traditional (think quilt blankets that look like they were from Jefferson's time). The room and the hotel felt modern and are newly updated. There is a lot of room within the B&B to hang out in, including a large porch overlooking the vines, and you do not feel like you are staying in someone else's house because Chris and Erika have their own apartment upstairs. They really perfected the ability to be there when you need them and give you space when you don't. The only thing I will note about the room was that there is a cut out in the bathroom to allow in natural light. It is very high so you cannot see anything, but there is no glass or sound barrier. Its fine if you're staying with your significant other, but just a warning to those who really treasure bathroom privacy...
Winetour: The winetour was just perfect. I generally prefer doing things on my own in comparison to organized tours, and I was nervous we would be rushed through the different wineries. That was not the case at all. Chris is laid back and knowledgeable about the wine and it was incredibly fun. They also took pictures of us on their own camera and just emailed them to us....just a really nice touch.
Breakfast: Delicious. It is a more formal breakfast served at 8:30 AM. You start with an appetizer (for us, one day grapefruit and the other granola/yogurt), a homemade muffin, and then you are served the main course. Everything is just fresh, local ingredients so it was delicious. I wrote on my form when we registered that I did not eat pork and they served me delicious replacements instead. The breakfast is definitely one of the highlights of the stay.
