Arcady Vineyard Bed & Breakfast

We just returned from an amazing weekend at Arcady. We live in DC and needed a weekend away, and Arcady was the perfect fit.

Before delving into details, I should note that we are in our late 20s. There was another young couple staying at Arcady at the time so we felt very age-appropriate. There were also two mid-aged friends and an older couple, so I would say everyone would really enjoy this property.

The room: We stayed in the Baron's room. It is one of the middle-grade rooms in term of price, which I wanted because of the balcony with a little bench; it was a really pretty view to wake up to. I also did not want to stay in a place that feels old and traditional (think quilt blankets that look like they were from Jefferson's time). The room and the hotel felt modern and are newly updated. There is a lot of room within the B&B to hang out in, including a large porch overlooking the vines, and you do not feel like you are staying in someone else's house because Chris and Erika have their own apartment upstairs. They really perfected the ability to be there when you need them and give you space when you don't. The only thing I will note about the room was that there is a cut out in the bathroom to allow in natural light. It is very high so you cannot see anything, but there is no glass or sound barrier. Its fine if you're staying with your significant other, but just a warning to those who really treasure bathroom privacy...

Winetour: The winetour was just perfect. I generally prefer doing things on my own in comparison to organized tours, and I was nervous we would be rushed through the different wineries. That was not the case at all. Chris is laid back and knowledgeable about the wine and it was incredibly fun. They also took pictures of us on their own camera and just emailed them to us....just a really nice touch.

Breakfast: Delicious. It is a more formal breakfast served at 8:30 AM. You start with an appetizer (for us, one day grapefruit and the other granola/yogurt), a homemade muffin, and then you are served the main course. Everything is just fresh, local ingredients so it was delicious. I wrote on my form when we registered that I did not eat pork and they served me delicious replacements instead. The breakfast is definitely one of the highlights of the stay.

Room Tip: The room: We stayed in the Baron's room. It is one of the middle-grade rooms in term of price...

Chris and Erika were the perfect hosts and Arcady was beautiful. Our room was spotless and had everything one could need (even if you consider heated bathroom floors a need...I now do). Their port, made from Arcady's own grapes, was fantastic. Each mornings' breakfast was delicious and they even provided an equally delicious gluttin free version for my wife.

We went with Chris on the tour of several local wineries all of which had fantastic scenery and for the most part, had very good wines. Chris' wine knowledge was impressive and he made the tastings informative for both the novice and seasoned tasters in our group.

We cannot wait for our next visit.

We stayed for two nights in this delightful B & B. From the moment we arrived we were treated as personal guests of Chris and Erika. On the day we arrived, we were greeted with wine and a delicious cheese tray allowing us to meet the other couples staying at the home. Breakfast both mornings were elegantly set out and delicious! We took our wine tour with Chris and visited 4 wineries. Chris was incredibly knowledgeable about wine and the process of wine making and we enjoyed our tour immensely learning so much. The port wine and chocolates left in our room in the evening were the perfect finish to a delightful day. We highly recommend staying at this wonderful B&B!

This is a real gem of a place. The location is perfect - very peaceful and quiet but with easy access to Charlottesville, Monticello and Shenandoah National Park. The room was lovely with every amenity we could've wanted and the breakfasts were fantastic! They catered brilliantly for my food allergy. Chris and Erika looked after us really well and there were lots of nice touches such as port and chocolates every evening, and homemade cookies. All in all we had a lovely time there and only wish we had been able to stay longer.

We stayed here for two nights (April 1-2) while touring the homes of Jefferson and Monroe. The inn is very convenient for this purpose as well as touring Michie Tavern, also within a couple of miles of the B&B. The room we stayed in (Gallatin) had everything one could want...a high, four poster bed, a separate little sitting room for reading (and decent lighting... a plus) and a roomy bath with heated floor. The room does not have a jetted tub but it does have a state-of-the-art shower that has all sorts of options, some of which we never figured out. Breakfast was bountiful and locally sourced. We had the place to our selves and it was very quiet out in the country which leads to sound sleeping, something we needed after a weekend of family reunion in D.C. Erika and Chris were very helpful and kind. We loved the touches of their own port and chocolates at turn down and the bottle of sparkling wine and soft drinks in the mini wine frig in the room. The one minus is that there is no place to eat dinner in the immediate area so one must drive into Charlottesville - about 7 miles away - for dinner. There are, however, lots of good choices once you do.

We love that you had a great time with us at Arcady!

It's true that we only have two restaurants within 1 and 2 miles from our B&B. We are located 6.5 miles from the downtown pedestrian mall, where there are over 50 places to dine.

Our problem is our County will not allow restaurants, which we are all trying hard to change. That's why all the restaurants are only in downtown Charlottesville. Bed and Breakfast inns are also restricted by our county and are only allowed to serve breakfast to our guests.

We do advise our guests that we have a lovely Italian restaurant that will deliver hand crafted pizza, pasta dishes and fresh salads to the inn for those who don't feel like driving the 12 minutes to downtown, 2 minutes to the Clifton Inn, and 5 minutes to Keswick's bar and/or restaurant..

We also offer (from the website and on our reservation form) a gourmet picnic dinner, for which we only need 24 hours notice to pick up for guests. This dinner includes a cheese plate, gourmet sandwich, salad, crunchy kettle chips and pastry dessert from our favorite local bakery.

So, if any guests are concerned about arriving late and hungry, just shoot us an email and we'll be happy to have something ready for you, or a menu from which you can select to have dinner delivered! We'll be happy to assist!

This was our second wine tour with Chris, but our first stay at the B&B. Beautiful accomodations. The personal service and attention to detail made our stay perfect. We enjoyed seeing different wineries and once again getting a wine education. Having a driver is the only way to tour!! Breakfast was amazing....totally homemade. We don't stay in B&Bs often, but will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The Baron has a great view of the vineyard. Very quiet with no guest room right next door.

We received a wine-lovers honeymoon weekend at Arcady vineyard B&B as a wedding gift from my brothers and we had a blast!!! Erika and Chris are wonderful and the place is just beautiful - very well maintained and quiet. The breakfasts were delicious, the wine tour was so much fun, and the ride to Charlottesville at night was much appreciated. We stayed in the suite and just loved our private porch and jacuzzi. Wonderful stay - a perfect wedding gift that we will always remember!
