We went for dinner on a night when the restaurant was actually closed with the wine shop open. But the owners told us the chef was in the kitchen making pate so we could be seated for dinner and they would be happy to serve us. Wonderful! We're glad they did as our meals were terrific, and the flights of half glasses of wine a nice match for the tilefish and tenderloin stroganoff we had. Service could not have been friendlier or more attentive (six other diners were served dinner too, all on a night they were closed). The surroundings are simple and casual and relaxing. Next trip to Charlottesville we definitely will return to Tastings to sample more fine wine and good food.
