So many breweries popping up in holes in the wall, so I was skeptical. The place is small but cozy with great seating to meet friends and hang out. Interesting and creative selection of brew. I didn't do the flight of tasting, but had a unique beer that I enjoyed very much. So many different options, it would be a good place to go to experiment and do some tasting. Was crowded on a Thursday night, but not rowdy, kind of a well dressed, young middle-upper class/business crowd. My biggest piece of advice: they do not serve food as it is a brewery, not a bar. Mcgradys Irish pub is adjacent, so going there for a meal after a few drinks made sense. But the night we were there, the food was marginal and the service was terrible. I would not go back. Hopefully they were just having a bad night and it isn't always that way. We learned from some regular Three Notc'd goers that the best thing is to order in pizza or have food delivered there.

Stopped by Charlottesville's newest brewery and had a great experience tasting their great beers. The tasting room has an industrial look and offers 2 different tastings 4 beers for $5.00 and 6 beers for $7.00. They give you a marker and let you pick which beers you want to taste on a "place mat". They make a great oatmeal stout, as well as some fine brown ales. They do not serve food but do have a food truck outside on occasion. If you are in the Charlottesville area and enjoy beer, Three Notch'd Brewing Company is worth a stop.

I have been putting off visiting Three Notch'd for several months not think their beers would be that good. Prior to the tasting room opening, I had their 40-Mile IPA over the Summer at a local restaurant in C'Ville. I was not impressed at all. It tasted like something a "homebrewer" would make in their kitchen. Not very distinct of worthy of being a true craft brew. Fast forward 6 months and I am very impressed!

I was surprised by the number of offerings they had. It had to be at least 10-12 in their tasting room. I went for the 6-flight sampler so i could get a better idea of all they offer. A couple were just average and nothing special but several were very well done! Again, highly impressed!

Their tasting room is designed very well. Definitely a place to meet and socialize with friends. They did have a small room off to the side with a TV and a few tables but this place is all about communication and less about "sports bar." Head to the co-owners bar next for for that stuff.

Overall, very nice beer, polite staff, super prices! $10 for a growler fill and their 6 sampler was only $7! Definitely check them out if you have not already!
