Stopped in over Memorial Day weekend with another couple for the tasting. The young lady serving us seemed indifferent to our being there, almost as though she would rather us not bother her. She simply poured the wines and did not explain anything. This winery has fewer wines to taste, but still worth the stop if for nothing but the view. There is a $5 tasting fee, but you are allowed to keep the glass.

My recent 2 day getaway to Charlottelsville did NOT disappoint. Blenheim Vineyards was our favorite of the five we visited but each and everyone had views that were spectacular. Bleinheim, owned by Dave Matthews, was very laid back, and relaxing with great wines and beautiful views. We were planning our next trip back on the car ride home!

On a recent trip to the Charlottesville area, my husband and I visited 6 or 7 vineyards throughout a five day trip. This one was one of our favorites for several reasons. First, we both loved the wine. We are both wine drinkers and love to try new ones. We both found almost every wine we sampled delicious. It was hard to decide which ones to buy. Of course, all of this is purely my personal opinion…with wine, you just cannot please everyone, but we loved it. Second, we experienced great service here on our wine tasting, with a nice young lady who told us all about their wine. Third, there is nothing pretentious about this place. I loved the setting (a renovated barn) and the staff is friendly, nice, helpful, and laid back. Lastly, the wine is so very affordable. After visiting vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, and parts of France, it was incredibly refreshing to be at a place that was laid back with delicious wine and on top of it all…affordable!

A wonderful winery without pretense. Charlottesville is rife with uppity places that can make you more than a little uncomfortable...Blenheim Vineyards is not on that list. This is a relatively simple place with a nice atmosphere, warm staff, and good wine. The view off the back deck is lovely and the mascot roaming the tasting room is a great touch. If you want "stuffy", this isn't the place. If you want friendly, it will more than fit the bill!

Most everyone knows the story that this vineyard is owned by Dave Matthews. But it's very unlikely that you'll see him there. But he has built a very cool winery. It's not real big, but the view off the back deck is amazing. They don't mind you bringing your own food, which is great. The wines are okay, but I have no problem enjoying a bottle with friends on the deck. They are also very friendly there.
