This is the sort of place you go with friends/family for a casual dinner of burger and fries, and similar fare. The burgers aren't fancy - just what a good burger should be. Definitely satisfied our burger craving! The other sandwiches looked good too.

The sweet potato pie was possibly the best I have ever had - it was completely delicious. I would go back just to have a couple slices of that!

The atmosphere is casual and laid-back... definitely a place to hang with the locals. I will definitely be back someday!

Staff were so so lovely. Food was nice and very cheap. You get to choose two "vegetables" with any dinner main and this came from an incredible list which included Mac and cheese and potato salad! It was a great experience. The place is obviously popular with the locals, which is a good sign.

Mel and Tia made us feel right at home. The fried chicken was moist on the inside and crispy delicious on the outside. The sides are homemade and a soulfood lovers' dream. I highly recommend the Cole slaw. The sweet potato pie was like eating sweet velvety cream. We loved it so much, we stopped on our way home to pick up a whole pie. Tia is the best and is sincerely friendly. You don't want to miss this comfort food experience.

Good soul food. Every time I have been it has been excellent. The burger is huge and the best in town, in my opinion. The fish sandwich wasn't that good but the fries, collards, pies and everything else is really good. Cheap and good bang for your buck.

The place isn't fancy, but if you're up to hangin' with the locals, those bbq ribs are seriously unbelievable. The sides we recommend (and we tried a bunch; they were so affordable!) were the mac and cheese and the cole slaw. We also really liked that lemon pie for dessert! The whole bill for two people (dinner) wasn't more than $20...and we both agreed it was some of the best food we had on our whole vacation! The owners (who seemed to be on a first name basis with everyone in the 'hood!) really charmed us with their sweet, welcoming hospitality as well. This place is authentically southern & "down home." We'll go there whenever we're back in Charlottesville!
