“Elegant French”

Excellent French cuisine with good service. High prices but fair on a price/value basis. Menu a bit too unchanging for frequent visits.

“Lovely for a special occasion”
Reviewed July 9, 2012 via mobile

Try this gem if you are looking for something special and out of the ordinary and want dinner to be the main event of your evening. My husband and I recently celebrated his birthday in Charlottesville and decided to try the five course food and wine pairing for our last night there. The food and service were both excellent. You will not care for this restaurant if you are looking for fast inexpensive food in large quantities. You will love this restaurant if you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner where you can savor small bites, linger over the food, and enjoy a leisurely evening. Expect to stay about 3+ hours and pay $100+ per person with drinks. It was a lot of money for the two of us to spend on dinner but we both felt it was worth the splurge!

“The BEST french food . . . 5+++.”
Reviewed July 8, 2012

Don't think twice - just go here! Can't say enough good things about this restaurant and we're used to great food in NYC. Conveniently located off the main drag in the walking mall. Intimate. White table clothes. Ordered the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Perfect portion size and one wine was better than the next . . . really! Robin was a knowledgable server - they worked well as a team. Brian, chef/owner, came out and spoke to us about his background, etc.

DO NOT MISS THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU ENJOY GOOD FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE!

“Doesn't get better than this...”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

This was the last restaurant stop of our visit and boy was it AMAZING!!! Living in Miami, we are spoiled with GREAT food, but let me tell you, this is right up there with the best of them. I had the Wild Alaskan Halibut which was outstanding!!! For dessert I had the apple tart (amazing) and everyone else at the table had the molten chocolate cake (yeah, should of went with this too). Everyone else at the table had the lobster; which they all really enjoyed. The service was terrific and the later it got in the evening, the restaurant was solely lit with table candles; which was beautiful. This would be a great special occassion restaurant since it is very expensive.

“Superb French Restaurant”
Reviewed June 23, 2012

This is an outstanding French restaurant in an elegant, intimate setting on a side street just off the hustle-bustle of the downtown mall. The mall has dozens of restaurants, including some very nice ones, but this place stands out for its quality and sophistication. Our meal was exquisite. The spiced lamb carpaccio was a fine appetizer, as was the goat cheese ravioli with red beets. I had an excellent beef tenderloin with bearnaise sauce on a bed of red wine risotto. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her salmon with a potato-onion cake and olive puree. The service was most attentive. For example, they kept the wine bottle and poured it for us without fail. Expect to pay over $100 for two persons and one of their less expensive bottles of wine.
