My mother and I stopped by Travinia today after a day of shopping. The hostess was a little stand-offish and could have been a bit friendlier. She was too business like. Our server was VERY friendly and the surroundings were nice. We ordered an appetizer of the bruschetta. It was tasty. My mother ordered the chicken piccata and I ordered the eggplant Parmesan. I love eggplant Parmesan and find it very difficult to mess this recipe up. Well, I was wrong. I took one bite and was very disappointed. In all the years I have gone to a restaurant, I have never NOT been able to eat my meal. I'm very polite and did not send the dish back. My mother even tasted it in case it was a personal thing. She agreed with me. The breading on the eggplant as well as the sauce just didn't taste right. The best comparison I can say is that it tasted like dishwater. Again, the waitress was VERY nice. She noticed that I didn't eat. She asked if everything was right. I politely just said that the dish wasn't what I expected. She asked me did it taste right. I confessed and said, no, it wasn't very good. She told me that several people had said that it wasn't good and the kitchen was working on the recipe. I wasn't charged for the meal. I won't go back only because I felt the quality of the food wasn't top notch. They still have a long way to go.
