Nice experience. Tour guide needs to be friendlier towards children while inside the house. Outside grounds are great to explore. There are several outbuildings and animals to visit.

Affordable and worth every dime. No glitz, just history.I know our country better because we spent a short afternoon in this historic setting.

After visiting the ostentacious Monticello, Ash Lawn- Highland is much more down to earth. It's still a great looking property and the 275-year old oak tree out in front of the house makes the property. The history of the property is very interesting and the outbuildings give a good idea of what life must have been like. Consider the President's Pass to get the best deals.

While not on par with Monticello, Ash Lawn-Highland is definitely worth a look. It was good to be reminded that Monroe was also a great patriot who contributed much to our country's growth. There is a beautiful oak tree in front of the house which is massive.

This beautiful home and grounds was the favorite place of President James Monroe. Situated near Charlottesville, it is an easy drive from I-64, the Blue Ridge Parkway, or Skyline Drive.

The home has been beautifully restored and the docents give a very interesting and informative tour. There are also outbuildings, a basement kitchen, and gardens to visit.

Of course there is also a gift shop with interesting items from the region. We very much enjoyed our visit.
