Enquire about a tour at the rotunda. This was excellent. Loved the lawn rooms. Also close to the town centre, short walk from train station. Well worth the effort.

The architecture is lovely, and it is easy to get around to campus. There are really two campus' but both are easily accesable.

What a quaint experience to walk on the lawn and see the room that Edgar Allan Poe had when he was a student at the University of Virginia.

The guide said it is an honor to live in a room on the lawn but we felt the rooms were not as nice as a dorm room.

The University grounds are so large and we walked and walked and still did not see everything.

It is a beautiful university and there are some amazing stores nearby that are in walking distance.

For a big public university two weeks before exams and graduation, I couldn't believe how glad everyone is to see visitors. They love their school as well they should. Take a student-led tour of the Rotunda! The young man who showed us around just made our whole vacation. Good luck in law school, Tyler!

This is a must-see if you're in the area. The campus is beautiful - there is no other word for it.

It is especially interesting because you can peep into some of the student rooms and get a real insight for what it must be like to be a student there.

The rotunda is currently being renovated so we couldn't see all of the outside of it in the way we would have liked. However, we were able to go inside and look at all the rooms.

We could also see the very view from the windows that Jefferson so loved. Apparently he looked out from those windows just the week before he died. The University of Virginia was - we are told - one of his proudest achievements. And you can see why.
