My daughter and I stayed here for one night for UVA's Day on the Lawn. Although we were looking for an inexpensive hotel and travel extensively, we would never stay here again.

You truly get what you pay for: The lobby is tiny and is also the place where the free breakfast if offered in the morning. There are three small tables - not nearly enough room for people to eat their breakfast.

When I checked in the desk clerk had her two children in the lobby and was scolding them to be quite. Check-in was easy and we were given Room 206.

The room reeked of cigarette smoke despite requesting a non-smoking room. It was late and I was exhausted so I didn't bother asking to change rooms. The free wi-fi was fast. We didn't use the microwave but the fridge was cold.

The room itself was shabby and dated. We had a floor lamp without a shade and the overall tint of the room was yellow (probably from the cigarette smoke). The bedspreads were shabby (I remove them anyway) and the sheets very thin. There were two soft spots in the floor, which is strange - I thought it would be concrete. The bathroom looked clean enough for one night but, like the rest of the room, was shabby.

There are a lot of people milling around the outside of the hotel and the building itself isn't very secure - the exterior remained unlocked and available to anyone. It appears that the hotel appeals to two main groups of people: construction workers and people who need a cheap place to party. It appears the hotel rents rooms by the week/month.

Fresh made waffles are available for breakfast, along with two kinds of cereal, various breads and muffins, juice, coffee, etc. Not remarkable. There is no place to sit aside from the three tables which remain full. People had to balance their food on their knee.

We have to return to UVA in early JUly and have booked a room at the Red Roof Inn - it HAS to be an improvement! I will NEVER stay here again. This room anywhere else would go for $39.99 a night but, being Charlottesville, we paid around $60.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a non-smoking room when checking in.

The hotel was nice - was in a good part of town (easy access to attractions, etc.). The room was great (we stayed in a suite) - very spacious and clean. The breakfast was ok - cereal, bread, frozen waffles. One thing that was strange was that the desk in the room had no outlet or lamp nearby. The internet was up and down a lot. Staff was pretty friendly. At night, a lot of people loiter outside, smoking and such - I guess because there's nowhere else for them to go.

This is not a good value. The place is rundown, cramped, cheap, old and the walls and doors are paper-thin. The only accessible electrical outlet was next to the tiny sink vanity in the bathroom. They don't even provide a clock so you can set an alarm. People seemed to be using the ice machine outside our room all night long, and the coup de grace was the trash truck emptying the dumpsters, which apparently were right outside our room, at 6:45 in the morning. The small lobby also serves as the breakfast area with three tables and maybe 12 chairs. There was no syrup for the toaster waffle. The only redeeming item was yogurt.

Room Tip: I don't think there are any good rooms.
