We stayed at this Doubletree for two nights while visiting Monticello and the Charlottesville area. The staff was very helpful, friendly and professional in every way. The King room was great and the bed was outstanding. We both had a great nights sleep. We had dinner at TJ's and decided on a light meal after a busy day...bruschetta, soup and salad and the food was excellent. We also decided to go to breakfast at the breakfast buffet in TJ's and the quality was among the best buffets that I have ever experienced in a hotel. The location is convenient and we would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a King Executive room on the 9th floor which also entitles you to the free drinks and snacks...

This DoubleTree is my hotel of choice for business trips to Charlottesville. It is conveniently located near shopping areas and not too far from the airport - but just far enough to not hear planes flying immediately overhead. Staff was very friendly and helpful.Excellent breakfast buffet with a large selection of hot and cold items. Comfortable bed, nice amenities, nice towels. As others have noted, there can be an issue with noise if other visitors are not considerate.

Clean and quiet property. Fast friendly service. Nice gym. It's a few miles from downtown. The only thing is the halls are a little noisy because the doors have gaps. Not a big problem.

I paid a AAA rate of $135/night when I stayed here recently to visit my daughter, a UVA student. Although my stay was adequate, I plan to find another hotel the next time I visit.

I had a serious problem with noise in the hallway and an adjacent room during the second night of my stay. I don't entirely blame Doubletree for this - my stay was quiet enough before a school group and several tipsy wedding guests checked in on Saturday night. But the walls are thin enough to hear every word coming from next door, unless the guests are thoughtfully soft-spoken. And I could hear an alarm coming from one of the kids' rooms, 4 doors down the hall, at 10:30 PM. I was already in bed and had a debate with myself about whether I should get up - what if there was an emergency? By the time I finished debating, got up, and re-dressed, two teachers and what appeared to be a security guard were in the hallway, tending to the situation. It would have been nice if one of them had apologized for disturbing me. Maybe the same person who woke me at 5:30 the next morning, by knocking on every door and loudly inquiring, "Are you up?" Hint to chaperones: THEY ALL HAVE CELL PHONES. There's also a phone in every room. Why not call the kids instead of making sure everyone on the floor has to listen to you before sunup?

Another glitch was that housekeeping didn't make up the room on the second day of my stay, although I had been out of the room between 9 AM and 2:30PM. I know I could have called the front desk, but I needed use of the room at that point for the next two hours - by which time I knew that no one was around to make up a room. I'm a tidy traveler, so it wasn't a huge deal, but still indicative that there are a few bugs in their system. (Didn't see a single bug, btw, though a notice in the room explained that stink bugs are everywhere in Charlottesville during the spring, and the hotel was doing all it could about the situation). I had to visit the front desk several times to have my room key re-swiped, which was inconvenient.

Although the bathroom was quite small, the hotel had the BEST bath towels I've ever used in a hotel, even the 5-star resorts I've visited. My room was quite nicely decorated, though a mini-fridge would have been nice, and the bed was comfortable. Still, it was not an impressive stay.

nice hotel. would have preferred a room further up in the hotel. Granddaughter loved the fact that pool was open 24/7. Good service in the restaurant, good food. Did not have a refrigerator in the room, but could live without it. Ice machine on third floor was not there, had to use 5,6,7 floor for ice.

Excellent location with plenty of nearby options for shopping, food and so on. Property is nicely maintained. Staff was excellent. Check in and check out was quick. Room was fine. Hotel is pet friendly so there were a few leashed dogs wandering about with owners ... and one loose one roaming around the pool area. Not a problem, unless you don't like to see other people's pets in your hotel. There was one large student group in the hotel, but unlike other reviewers have mentioned, this didn't present any noise or other issues for us. Rhett's River Grill, directly across the highway, is a good option for lunch or dinner. All things considered, this Doubletree is a good, convenient choice when you have business in the Charlottesville region.
