We stayed here on a visit to the University of Virginia. While not within walking distance, it is just a short drive to the university. The hotel is hard to see from the road, so turn in when you see the Food Lion. We arrived late at night and were given a first floor room. The room had a very musty odor but because we were on the first floor, the window didn't open. Because of the late hour, we cranked up the a/c and fan and made do. In the morning we noticed that although the room was more or less clean, there were areas around the edges that had been missed, not up to the usual marriott standards. On the plus side, the hotel was fairly new and modern and the rooms had the latest Marriott decor and flat screen tv. The wifi connection was strong and the breakfast was fine, exactly what you expect at a Fairfield inn. The staff was very friendly and there was someone in the breakfast area stopping by the tables to make sure we had everything we needed.

This was an overnight stop on a long road trip and it served its purpose adequately at a reasonable price. The rooms were good with a large and comfortable bed and plenty of space. By contrast the bathroom area was too cramped with a small bath, an over the bath shower and a tight space for the mirror, sink and toilet. The complimentary breakfast was basic but in that not much different from similar hotels. If you want the full works in the US my experience suggests you eat in cafes and not in chain hotels.

The public areas were functional, the staff helpful but the hotel was quite busy and they were under a bit of pressure. The location is fine for a simple stopover. It's a mile or two from the city centre on the major road from the north. To take advantage of the city centre facilities [or I guess visit the University] requires a drive. We ate out at a restaurant which involved a drive but traffic was light and the route straightforward. The hotel is located in a rather unprepossessing mall; you certainly wouldn't choose it for its location but it is reasonably priced and practical. I certainly would consider it again or other hotels in the chain.

My wife and I had a great stay in Charlottesville, VA for a couple of nights, and stayed at the recently remodeled Fairfield. This hotel was chosen because it had much better reviews than the Courtyard next door, and we were not disappointed. The room was very nice, with a great bathroom, new decor, television was great, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast offerings were good, as well as the coffee. The front desk and staff were outstanding and very helpful. Location was close to a grocery store and lots of restaurant choices and downtown not that far away. Overall a great stay, and above my normal budget hotel standards!

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights with my wife and two young children. We were in town to visit with friends and to spend some time at UVA. We both went to school in Charlottesville and subsequently lived there for 10+ years, so we know the area well. The hotel is located in a relatively convenient location to the University area by car, as well as to a wide array of dining and shopping options. There is also a Food Lion supermarket and an Applebee's Restaurant located immediately adjacent to the hotel. We arrived late night after driving down from BWI airport and were pleased to find the room to be clean and comfortable upon arrival. They provided us with a "pack and play" as a crib which worked out well for our infant. The room had a microwave oven and refrigerator, which came in handy. The continental breakfast buffet was adequate and the waitstaff there were very friendly and helpful. My daughter and I enjoyed an afternoon swim in the pool, although it is not heated and with the cool evenings, was a bit too refreshing for my taste - I'm sure later in the summer it would be very nice. My only complaint would be that our room was not cleaned in the morning when we left for several hours, so when we returned in the early afternoon to allow our kids to take a nap, it was not yet made up and the cleaning staff was not able to access the room. In retrospect, I should have requested that they clean the room when we left, but at the time I didn't think it would be necessary. (There was no "please make up the room" sign to hang on the door either. ) The front desk brought us clean towels upon request as we were heading out for dinner, which was sufficient for our purposes.

We booked our room at the Fairfield Inn & Suites as part of a block of rooms for our niece's wedding. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The entire staff at the hotel was courteous and friendly (lots of "Good Mornings" and "Hellos"). The front desk staff was extremely helpful letting me leave documents for guests that were given to them upon check-in. The continental breakfast offered many choices for everyone (loved the home made waffles!). Because of the breakfast offered at the hotel, our family was able to enjoy eachother's company at the hotel instead of trying to coordinate a meeting time and getting into seperate vehicles to try to find a restaurant for breakfast that would accommodate all of us. Added bonus - although our room was on the 1st floor right next to the pool - it was quiet!
My only negative - I wish the vanity in the bathroom had been bigger.

We stayed at this hotel while on vacation recently. The quality and size of the rooms were excellent, there was decent free coffee in the lobby and the included buffet breakfast was good. Checking staff were also friendly and helpful.

The property is very close to an Applebees but we drove into the centre of Charlottesville for an evening meal. Seems a nice place with plently of restaurants to choose from.
