Stayed at this hotel for a wedding. Nice room with okay amenities. This hotel is under renovation, has only one elevator for the patrons, okay breakfast buffet but can get crowded, small pool on site outside, no workout room although I was told that we have access to Gold's Gym close by. Tucked away beside a grocery store, there is an Applebee's next door.

Stafff was very nice and was helpful and appreciative. One beef was with the television, you sign on then you have to run the gamut of advertising for pay for view before you queue up the regular channels. Two to three miles north of the campus of the University of Viriginia so not very convenient to the campus. Near mall and shopping and other restaurants but the buffet is the only chance for food here. Not having experience with the area if I had it to do again I probably would have chosen another place only for convenience to the ambiance of the downtown area and shops and restaurants near the angle. The hotel was okay about average and we were supposed to get special deal as part of the wedding party, it worked out to about $118 per night (all fees and taxes included).

+Free continental breakfast with the addition of a waffle machine
+Coffee in your room but coffee/tea also available 24/7 in the lobby (breakfast area)
+ Applebee's restaurant would have been within walking distance (right across the parking lot)
-- except I think the owners of Applebee's & this Fairfield must hate each other! If they would just add 6-10 outdoor stairs between the higher Fairfield parking lot & the lower Applebee's parking lot you could walk from one to the other. It's too steep of an incline to walk if you're over 40 (which I am) and with your 83yo mother! It was absolutely ridiculous that we had to DRIVE about 30-45 seconds just to have dinner. Very poor planning.

Room Tip: 1st floor was comfortable, wish we had sofa though

Spent 2 nights at this location and commuted to Lynchburg for our son's college graduation exercises at Liberty University. Got a great deal on Hotels.com. Staff was great, breakfast variety was great, and location was easy access for many destinations. Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor.

My wife and I stayed here for two night during a wedding in c-ville. The location was only 5 minutes from UVA, and very easy to get to. The first thing I noticed was that the hotel smelled really fresh and clean. Sometimes hotels that aren't brand new smell musty. This one was perfect. Really clean, quiet, and the staff was really nice.

There was only one thing that I didn't like: Getting through the front door of the hotel is almost inpossible. For some reason, you enter through a single door that only opens out, followed by another single door, so getting your luggage in is not easy. I was looking for another entrance, but that's it.

The hotel is being renovated, so I'm sure it will be even better than it already is. Our bed deffinetly sagged in the middle, but was rediculously comfortable anyway. I'm sure they will replace it with the renovation.

On a final note, my wife and I love hot tubs. Sadly, the hot tub at the Fairfield has been filled in with dirt and bushes. dumb.

Room Tip: Stay on the bottom floor near the back door

This hotel is not in downtown Charlottesville, but it's pretty accessible by car to area attractions. The service was good and the staff was very helpful. There's a nice breakfast in the morning, and it's a quiet, clean hotel that's a very good value.

Chose this hotel because of proximity to UVA. 5 minute drive to the Law School. Rooms clean and well-kept. Quiet. No complaints. Free parking.

My wife and I stayed at this Fairfield for three nights earlier this January. We found it on priceline for an incredibly low price per night, with the assumption it wouldn't be too great, but did accept pets. On the contrary, this was a great place to stay just outside Charlottesville.

The hotel offers free wireless internet, a business center, a nice breakfast bar with more than the standard fare, and newspaper. The staff was courteous and professional. There is plenty of free parking, and the property is adjacent to a Food Lion and Applebees. It is also located a short drive away from some of Charlottesville's main shopping areas.

Our only complaint would be small, black flecks in the ice. I tried every ice machine on site, and all had this problem. Otherwise, a great choice if you're traveling to the Charlottesville area.
