“Great experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

We had to wait 2 hours for the tour but it took that long to walk the grounds and enjoy the scenery. It was a beautiful fall day with the leaves near peak and a crispness to the air. We bought apple butter and blueberry preserves at the store which are the best I've ever had. the tour was informative and interesting for all ages.

“Our nations history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2012

The home of Thomas Jefferson is a real treat to visit and enjoy. This house represents the early struggle of this family and the servants they employed. After a tour of the house then you can walk the grounds and gardens. No time limit to your visit so pack a lunch and enjoy.

“A little history in rural Virginia”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2012

Been in the area many times, but this is the first time we actually toured Monticello. It was a great opportunity to learn a lot about Thomas Jefferson, see his well mainatained country home, and get a taste of upper class life at the start of our nations history.

The attraction is easy to get to, with ample parking, a nice visitor center with food and refreshments for sale. On the whole, I was satisfied with our guide, although she didn't volunteer a whole lot of information beyond the script. She was knowledgeable in her answers of questions raised by the tour participants.

The whole experience definitely provided some insight into the life of a wealthy land owner in that day, and also the unique talents of Thomas Jefferson as reflected in the design of the building, the management of his slaves, and the contents. Our whole group enjoyed the experience, and I would recommend the tour highly.

“A Must See”

Thomas Jefferson was way ahead of his time. One really must tour Monticello to understand this and see for yourself what great things he accomplished.
