This is a fantastic hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like first class guests. The front desk agent who checked us in (Derick) was great - after 12 hours on the road it was so nice to be treated so well as soon as we got in the door.
We found the rooms to be spotless clean and modern. There was no evidence of poor housekeeping anywhere. A good selection of channels on the televison was offered. A fully stocked mini bar complete with little liquors and snacks, was available.
Westin have "Heavenly Beds" and Sheraton has their "Sweet Sleeper" but the Omni should call their beds "Omni Opulence". This was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping on. It was so comfortable that in the morning, my partner practically had to beg me to get out of bed and get our day started. The comfort was outstanding.
The breakfast buffet in in the hotel restaurant was $11.95 without chef station or $14.95 with chef station (drinks included regardless of option). The buffet was filled with fresh fruits, berries, selection of breads, oatmeal, cold cereals, biscuits and gravy, cheeses, yogourts, etc. Everything on the buffet was high quality, the berries and fruits were well washed, and the presentation was great. Again, the diningroom staff were outstanding--treating us like first class guests from the very moment we stepped foot in the restaurant. Every staff member in the hotel just made you feel as if you were genuinely appreciated and wanted there!
We also had dinner one night in the hotel restaurant -- the menu there was better than many of the restaurants on the pedestrian mall, and prices were comparable as well. In addition, the dinner was also excellent value for money. If you'd rather venture out for meals, the hotel is situated at the end of an enormously-long pedestrian mall, where you will find over 30 restaurants, pubs, bars, etc., as well as a ton of places at which to shop, right outside the doors.
The lobby is stunning--glass, water fountains and indoor trees and tropical plants everywhere, and is reminiscent of the lobby of a large tropical resort. Fresh, ice-cold iced tea and water, with lemon wedges is always on offer, and is complimentary.
The hotel has both indoor and outdoor pools as well as an exercise room with about ten pieces of equipment in it. There are also dry heat saunas and shower and change facilities, and a hot tub. The humidity at the indoor pool was unbearable. The outdoor pool was fine, though there were slight signs of green algae along the stairs and perimeters of the pool. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised and thought the Omni Charlottesville was a fantastic place to stay.
The hotel was about eight to ten minutes drive from Monticello, the plantation home of President Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United States of America.

My first stay at this property was Friday, August 1, 2008. I had a favorable impression from my first contact with the bell staff and the reception desk.

Room 214 was very clean, spacious enough, and practical and accomodating in every way.

I will concede the awkwardness of the small bathroom as mentioned in other reviews. The bathroom door is only a few inches from the toilet seat.

Location. Location. Location. This property is perfectly situated at one end of the Pedestrian Mall. The evening of August 1 found the mall busy and crowded. It was a thriving, exciting venue that night, with several excellent restaurants to choose from. (We chose C&O Restaurant, just off the Mall on Water Street.)

My only negative about the Omni Charlottesville is the lack of deep discounts on it's common $209 rate.

Otherwise I strongly recommend it for those interested in the downtown area.

This is a great location in Charlottesville. it is right at the end of the mall (which is a pedestrian street) and it is nice place for short vacation. It is also about 10-15 minutes from Monticello, which makes it very convenient.

We ordered room service, through the Omni Select Guest Program, which they did not deliver. We called and they apologized and delivered it in a few minutes and didn't charge us. We thought that was a nice touch.

The property itself reminded me more of a Crown Plaza than an Omni property and might be considered a little worn around the edges, but superior service and great location make up for any small issues.

I was at the hotel on business (there were many of us staying at the hotel and I believe it is a regular annual booking). The room and service were excellent. The staff were particularly helpful for dinner recommendations. Very good location at start of mall

Used the Omni as home base for a romantic weekend touring area wineries and the pedestrian mall. Found a very pleasant, though very corporate hotel. Definitely their mainstay is conferences and banquets.

Room was a little small for a small town hotel, furnishings were pleasant but a tad dated, room layout was a little quirky. For instance, closet and bathroom doors opened into each other.

Location was perfect for touring the ped mall, and contrary to info on their website, self parking is free.

Breakfast buffet (not included) was very good, and had some uplevel items, such as locally sourced meat and produce. A nice touch to try to get out of the corporate hotel mold.
