Spent a weekend for a wedding reception at the Boar's Head Inn and it was fabulous. The professional and friendly service began with the front desk to the bellhop service and continued throughout the weekend. The food in the Old Mill Room and the wedding reception was exceptional with variety. Had a king room with a balcony, which was very nice for the morning and evening. Rooms very clean. I would recommend this and we did not have enough time to take advantage of the golf course, spa facilities or Sports Club, although other people that utilized them had rave reviews.

My husband and I took a quick trip to Charlottesville sans kids for some wine tasting and R&R. We wanted an "Inn" experience, and by descirption and photos, this place fit the bill. The room itself was nicely appointed, though for $255 a night, I would have expected a terrace / balcony. The air conditioning was not really working fully, so the room was a bit stuffy. And the sound carries quite a bit, so we heard a lot of ambient noise in the hallways.

The facility offered a lot- outdoor pools, a spa, and a very nice restaurant. However, the sports complex was largely in use by families (which was fine- they have a dedicated "adults only" pool), but when we visited the smaller secluded pool, there were no towels, no attendants in site, and the steam room and saunas were unavailable. The facilities looked like they were in an overall need of a face lift, and given the cost, and the additional $8 fee for the "resort", I will plan to spend my money and time in an other location the next time I visit Charlottesville.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a specific room with a balcony, etc... otherwise you might not get a room with...

I'm having trouble writing this review because it almost sounds too good to be true. But, the experience my husband and I had at the Boar's Head was fabulous. We chose a room with a balcony, which we enjoyed. The room was decorated in a warm and inviting way and was very clean. We were a walk away from the Old Mill Room where we had several meals and each one was just perfect. Just as perfect was the service. Everyone was friendly, professional and helpful. I had no trouble finding plenty to eat, even with my many dietary restrictions. Lots to do on the grounds: spa, sports club -- lots of tennis courts, pools, a walking trail around the lake, etc. I arrived stressed and left relaxed and happy. Only saw a little of UVa which we found a little difficult to get around by car. Made a trip to Monticello which was nice, although I'm not big on tours. Plan on returning to Charlottesville -- would stay at the Boar's Head and perhaps visit a few vineyards.

We stayed at the Boar's Head for three nights while our daughter attended a UVA camp. It really was the best place to stay! The Sports Club allowed us to get a workout in each day and the grounds were great for walking. We did not eat in the nicer restaurant but the Bistro allowed us to relax and grab a drink. Even the room service menu was inexpensive! I highly recommend Boar's Head Inn!

We recently stayed at the Boar's Head Inn for one night while visiting UVa. Very nice hotel. Front desk staff were excellent, room with two queen beds was very nice and large with lovely linens, bathroom clearly updated, and the grounds were lovely. Our room even had a small patio. Nothing looked tired at all, clearly this property is kept up. We also had a nice meal on the patio/deck of the Grill, overlooking the pond.

Spent our recent anniversary here on a golf 'Stay and Play' package. Very pleasant property with excellent service. Room was on the small side but looked recently updated and was very comfortable.

Although in some ways showing its age, the Boars Head makes up for with great service and (for us) a good golf course in scenic surroundings.

Ate breakfasts at restaurant where food and service were very good

We went to the Boar's Head Inn for our honeymoon. The staff was extremely helpful and accomadating. Most days we had breakfast in our room on the terrace. The orders were correct and with large portion sizes. We experienced the winery tours, balloon ride, couples masssages, and dinner at the Old Mill Room, which were all included in the honeymoon package. All the services were excellent. Most impressive was the dinner in the Old Mill Room. My husband is a retired chef from the CIA. Our waiter, Doug, treated us like a king and queen, and Chef Bill Justus sent out some special items for us to taste. What we most appreciated from the staff, in the inn, restaurants and vendors was the attention to detail. The coffee was always hot! The foods sent via room service were wrapped and nicely presented. The grounds were clean and nicely manicured and our room was clean and comfortable. We will return!! Thank you Boar's Head for a wonderful honeymoon.
