Went to Boar's Head Inn for a quick getaway from DC. The front desk was super professional and efficient, exactly what you'd expect. Our room was ok, nothing special. Didn't experience the spa or golf course, but I'm sure they were nice. We didn't eat at BHI, and chose instead to dine in the restaurants in C-ville. There are so many to choose from...

Would I return? Not sure...I may try a B & B or small inn when I come back to Cville

Reservation staff was exceptionally rude and unwilling to refund a room despite hotel not being full. The place lives up to its snotty reputation and is far from southern hospitality. There is nothing special about the resort, and there are far better locations + price if proximity to Charlottesville is your priority.

Our second stay in a premium king room in the 600 building and we were not disappointed. Overall, the resort brilliantly blends clean/modern touches with historic charm. At their recommendation when booking, we moved down one floor from our original room to enjoy a full view of the lake (up one floor and the view is partially obstructed by the railing while seated). Depending on the season, I would highly recommend a room with a balcony in order to fully enjoy the surroundings from the comfort of your room. The grounds are beautiful, expansive, and extremely well-maintained; our room itself was large and quiet (we never heard from our neighbors); the bed and linens were extremely comfortable; and the bathroom was generously stocked with quality toiletries. We appreciate the charm and added touches that make this such a wonderful establishment (e.g., card and treats for special occasions, use of first name by staff). We also found room service (for breakfast) to be quick and delicious and reasonable priced for a substantial meal. We look forward to returning in the future.

We stayed at the Boar's Head Inn for two nights in room 210. I recommend avoiding this room. It sounded like a cart was rolling by every few minutes morning and night. The noise was louder in the bathroom like banging on the wall. I realized that they put us in the room next to the old elevator. It was very noisy and unpleasant. Very disappointing when you pay a hefty price to stay. Probably will not stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you are not next to an elevator.

The Boar's Head in brings American history to life. Jefferson's presence is felt everywhere, from the art on the walls to the quotes etched into the bathroom mirrors. Nice amenties, if you stay long enough to take advantage of the recreational activities and spa. Food options are limited. A car is a necessity.

Room Tip: Stay on a higher floor, since you will hear a lot of foot noise if someone is above you.

We recently visited the area to tour Monticello, and in looking to book a hotel ran across this inn. It turned out to be a great choice. Value wise it was just a bit more than the chain hotels but a far nicer experience. Very relaxing, quiet, great service, wonderful breakfast. Super overnight stop.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main building and it was great. We booked the bed and breakfast package which was a...

I have been to the spa at the Boar's Head many times when I was in school in Charlottesville which is lovely. First time staying at the hotel and glad I did. We had a room in the main building, 309 which was perfect and I would ask for again. It was beautifully done, not huge, but nice, warm furnishings and a new bathroom. The property is beautiful and the public rooms make you want to just grab a book and sit by a fireplace or take a walk all around outside. Highly recommend!
