everyone who works at the inn could not have been more gratious and pleasant to talk to. The food served (cookies, and breakfast) was amazing. Every aspect of the inn structure was full of history and so interesting to learn about.

I enjoyed my stay in this lovely and gracious Inn, the staff is very accommodating and tuned to the customer's needs. While I will return, I will do so as a leisure traveller as the Inn rooms while very well furnished lack of the basics a business traveller would need when wanting to work at a desk in the privacy of his/her room.

Room Tip: Room # 6 is close to the street very private and quiet however, I suspect most if not all the rooms...

The only good thing I can say about this place is the location . It was certainly the worst place I ever stayed . I was so disappointed after reading a Times review on the this inn . Our room #16 needed an extreme make over . They had installed a hotel type heating and air conditioner and when they cut out the wall, it fissured up the wall leaving a huge needed wall repair . When we complained they said "it is so hard to keep up a place like this" . Our entire room needed paint, repair, mold removal and new shower curtain lacking the mold . Walls, ceilings, trim and tile in bathroom was awful . It had a horrible odor of urine and mold . The parking was difficult and the outside appearance was in need of a definite remodel . I really got the feeling the owner has no heart in this place anymore . The place was full the whole time I was there and not sure why ? The prices they charged was so out of line to what you actually receive . I personally would never stay at this place again . Between the appearance (need desperate remodel), lack of cleanliness, uncaring attitude and facilities not adequate for the quest rooms they have . I would not find this inn a pleasurable place to stay . I myself could not wait to get out of there .

Room Tip: My tip is find another place !

Yes, we do have a great location! We have done a great deal of restoration to the building that Room 16 is in - the Cottage. A lot of the siding and gutters have been replaced which will arrest the moisture issue that you noticed. The entire back porch and ceiling of the Cottage are brand new, complete with new porch furniture which is around the entire Inn. I apologize that you perceived an uncaring attitude from the staff. We are very proud of the Inn and are very excited about the ongoing upgrades taking place daily!

Well located very close to downtown. Numerous restaurants nearby at walking distance. Old typical southern houses of the nineteen century. Daily fruit and cheese party in the afternoon in the shadow side or the sunny side of the terraces. Small but warm living room for the breakfast which is appropriate for conversations between travelers. Nice homemade cakes and beautiful staff. Upgrading of the bathroom we had is needed. The must which makes it really special: huge long trains of coal passing at night close to the houses, leaving you with a unique shaking experience (equivalent to an earthquake level 5 on the Richter scale). After the first surprise you can't help liking it and dream of the old southern days. I recommend warmly the place.

The worst Inn I have ever stayed in. The young staff at the front desk were invisible and only provided the absolute minimum service. I asked for a restaurant recommendation and they pointed me to a book of menus. The room (No 8) was basic and the bathroom needed a complete overhaul. The TV in the room was so old and had unsightly wires hanging from it; the wardrobe - only one door opened as the TV was in front of the other door - had no base to it, the bed shook every time you moved in it, the bathroom sink needed resealing, the bathroom tiles were disgusting and many broken, the shower curtain had mould growing on it, and there was an unsightly rusty Kleenex box stuck to the wall serving no purpose. There is a freight train track at the bottom of the garden (only approx 50 feet away) and the freight trains run during the night - when they go past, the whole Inn shakes so you get woken up - I thought we were having an earthquake. The breakfast was buffet-style - none of it was covered so attracted flies. It was available in a room which only had 2 tables in it, so there were insufficient places to sit to eat (you could sit outside, but only in nice weather conditions). The outside ceiling needed painting - all of the paint was flaking off. The car park wasn't big enough to service a fully accommodated Inn. And what's more, this is SOOOOOOO overpriced for what it offers! Seriously, DO NOT STAY HERE. If the Omni was available (alas, fully booked), we would have stayed there. The only good thing was free WiFi! I have photos, but they will not upload to this site - feel free to ask and I will send these unslightly things to you!

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your stay with us. There are always renovation projects taking place at the Inn and you are correct. The bathroom in Room 8 has been placed at the top of the list and will be remodeled next week. We are also in the process of replacing all of the TV's in the Inn to flat screen TV's and hope to have all of them in place by the winter. There are several sitting areas for dining for breakfast - one is a parlor on the ground level complete with a fireplace which is very pleasant on these chilly fall mornings!

In the future, it would be helpful to let the staff know of any problems so that we can address them right away. Had we known you were dissatisfied with your room, we would have tried to find you more acceptable accommodations.

My friend and I loved our one night stay at this Inn. Wonderful room, great wine and cheese reception, friendly service, and hearty breakfast. The only down side is the train noise at night, there were at least four trains while we were there. I love trains, so for me it was actually kind of cool . Train or not, it was a great stay.

A nice place to be. The charming style of the old house is real plus.
The beds were comfortable (with blankets and bed linen).During the night, the freight train woke us up by its sound and vibrations and the train passed each of the three nights.
Internet was available (protected WiFi) and the password was part of the welcome documents.
Breakfast was very good. A set of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruits, several toasts and cakes next to tea and american coffee (too weak for European tastes). Eating irons were real (not of plastic). The breakfast room was a bit small; next to the buffet, there were few tables and seat opportunities. So people also took their breakfast outside to the porch.
Every day at 4pm, there was cheese and wine available. Three, four type of cheeses were available of good quality. The wine was ok but still a bit of a disappointment. Virginia produces good wine so we were expecting to taste some local wine there. In future, I hope to see there good local wine.
The staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived a bit late (announced), so all the doucments and keys were available at the front door in an envelope.
However, the next morning, we did kind of expect the manager or representative to introduce him/herself quickly to us. That's something to work on.
Parking space is available. It's possible however, the cars park in such a way leaving could be hard.
