This hotel seems to be geared toward conference attendees or business travelers staying for 1 night.

Check in was quick and easy. The doormen were always attentive and friendly. The housekeeping staff and maintenance staff on our floor were quite loud during the morning and throughout the day.

Our bathroom was clean upon entering our room. However, the main area rug had potato chips and hair pins on the rug. There were some stains on the bed skirt. The TV checkout did not work, and neither did the "at your service" buttons on the phone.

Besides the housekeeping issues, the hotel seems appropriate for a quick check in/check out, without needing to stay for more than 1 night.

The Westfields Mariott is a large conference center close to Washington Dulles airport and far away from everything else. The conference rooms are OK (although the carpets have the most ugly designs), the conference food is good: lots of vegetables available.
Arriving two nights before the conference started was however a big mistake: in the evening the restaurant was closed, the only other place where you could get food (besides ordering room service) was the pub: a dark place with pool tables, many screens showing sports, a painting of a batlle field above the bar and really a lot of noise: not a nice place to have dinner. Choices were limited and what was served was disappointing (soggy bready crab cakes). Breakfast is in a very large room: useful when a conference is going on and you have to sit a few hundred people, but why with only 5 people present in the breakfast room they made us sit at the tables which where fartest away from the buffet ? (probably because those tables are close to the kitchen?)
I specifically asked for a quiet room but got a room overlooking a parking lot and worse: with a very noisy ventillation opening just before the door. Horrible. It was like trying to sleep with someone using a hair dryer in the room. The floor tiles in the bathroom showed lots of badly done repairs.
Don't forget to book a cab a long time in advance when you are going somewhere: upon leaving we waited 45 min for a cab.

I am a frequent traveler and appreciate a welcoming, warm hotel. I stay here whenever I'm in the D.C. Area. By far, this hotel has the most friendly, courteous, and helpful staff anywhere! Love it and highly recommend it!

Fantastic value, wonderful setting and building. I have been there twice with the family on route to vacation and the kids absoutely loved it. If you are in the Washington area or passing through, I would highly recommend it.

Nice Marriott property. Large facility and conference center. Nice rooms. Stayed with very large group. All keys and room assignments ready upon arrival ... so they were well-organized. Property appeared to be recently updated. But having no free internet in rooms was a significant detriment. I travel often and stay in Marriott's virtually 100% of the time. Very rare to not have free internet in rooms.
