“Sting-Rays - An Eastern Shore Landmark”
Reviewed February 11, 2012

Yep it is a gas station truck stop but the number of cars in the lot should give you a clue. the first time in I left since the line and wait was too long. I hit pay dirt on my way back and scored so sweet potato bisects and country ham. I had heard about these and they are incredible! If you are driving by and love sweet potato bisects they stop in you will not be disappointed.
The rest on the menu was filled fried foods and classic southern fare. Not knocking them but I had just been to the Exmore Diner and had my share of country foods.

“Lunch Is Not A Strength, Overpriced & Average, Try Dinner”
Reviewed January 29, 2012

I've raved about this place before but something has happened at least to the lunch offered. There are still plenty of seafood options weighted heavily toward the fried food but it is no where near the quality of the dinner offerings. Its still a peculiar place to expect a good meal from the curbside; it looks like a gas station with diner attached. I have not had the dinner recently and anecdotal tales are suggesting it is not good. I have eaten there since the management chance and it was certainly good but that was early in the transition. Better rely on others who have eaten dinner there recently. Friends made it clear that the lunch and dinner crew are very different in all parts of preparation and delivery. It still does not put on aires.

“It is what people say it is”
Reviewed January 18, 2012

Indeed, a little kitchen in the back of a truck stop. Not a place where you would expect to be charged $26 for stuffed flounder, but with all the hype I ordered it anyway. Beautifully presented and yummy. Side dishes were cole slaw (pickle relish aplenty) and some nice mashed potatoes with gravy. Why, oh why is the cornbread sweet below the Mason Dixon line? That was a surprise to this Southern Girl. Sting Ray's is an experience that happens to have some very good food to go along with it. A local favorite.

“Best Stuffed Flounder with crab on the Eastern Shore of VA.”
Reviewed January 5, 2012

StingRays does not look like much from the exterior, just the road side gas station with a immense parking lot and always full of cars, trucks and boats on trailers,.

This is the first hint that something good is happening inside.

Service is a cross between home ( mom ) and local dinner style, you may catch heck
for not cleaning you plate. But the flounder stuffed with crab meat plate will always be cleaned to the very last flake if not taken home is a carry out box.

“Still good”
Reviewed October 8, 2011

We ate at Sting Rays a couple of years ago after roadfood.com had done an article on their fried chicken. I checked reviews prior to leaving home and found remarks they had changed owners. We arrived at Cape Charles in time for lunch, however, when requesting fried chicken, they advised it would take 15 minutes. Actually took over 1/2 hour, however, the meal was still very good and reasonable priced. Not the same as a couple of years ago but time goes on and prices go up.
