“Charming Foodies Paradise”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

So we ventured to Cape Charles completely off season when almost everything is closed; HOWEVER, because we picked this fantastic B & B we had a great time. Bruce and Carol were gracious and lovely. We have stayed at several B&Bs and this is by far one of the best! The house is amazing in and of itself. It is part of the historic district of Cape Charles and is full of antiques and decor to follow suit.
So first, before I say anything else, I have to say that this woman can cook ....I mean really cook. My girlfriend and I are COMPLETE foodies and we were in gourmet heaven. Everything is fresh, delciious, creative, and plentiful. The breakfast is 3 courses and well worth a trip to Cape Charles if for nothing else. The coffee is also wonderful - it is a special blend made specifically for Cape Charles House B&B. Not to mention, Carol completely won my heart over when she sent us on our road trip back to NYC with a big plate of freshly baked muffins :) Yum, yum, yum! Besides the wonderful service and fantastic food that Bruce and Carol provided, we shared such great moments of conversation. Bruce and Carol are very involved in the community and they have a wealth of knowledge about the history and culture of the area, which is very important to my girlfriend and I . They shared all of this information so graciously and usually over a delicious snack of some sort....seriously her muffins are THE best. They even have ALL of the menus from all nearby restaurants readily at hand to make recommendations if you would like them.
The rooms were immaculate and beautiful. We were very comfortable in our room and had a great mattress. Cape Charles provided us with some desperately needed deep sleep.
I would recommend and urge anyone in the Cape Charles area to stay in this wonderful B&B in or off season. I know we hope to be back soon :)

We have been to several B&B's in the past 15 years. Cape Charles House is one of our favorites! What a nice time we had and Bruce & Carol were wonderful hosts. They had so much information on the area and we so willing to help make our stay pleasant. We will plan to go back to visit and check on Mr. Kitty who was a great greeter.

Cape Charles House was our first try at a Bed and Breakfast thanks to our friends invite. The home was charming and full of history and artifacts! Bruce and Carol are a wonderful host and hostess....we were treated better than family!! Carol's delicious homemade herb cheese spread and breakfast items were gobbled up. Carol and Bruce recommended and made reservations for dinner for us at the Carriage House. It was wonderful and we were so glad they helped us with our dining choice. Our room was very charming and they had added many extras in the room to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Meeting "Mr. Kitty" at our arrival gave the B & B even more character. Most of all, we so enjoyed our conversations with Bruce and Carol....we now have new friends in Cape Charles!!! Love, Mike and Peggy Jones

We were delighted to welcome you to Cape charles House as your first B&B experience. It is our hope that you will return so we can share more of the many hidden treasures of the Eastern Shore. Hoping that you are "hooked on" B&Bs as you travel. Thank you for taking the time to share your comments.

Entering the Cape Charles House, we were immediately greeted and shown to our room and then given a quick tour of the inn - a lot of history and tastefully decorated. We felt right at home! Our guest room was very comfortable and well appointed! Wine and cheese were offered as a pre-dinner treat and we were given several choices of restaurants for our dinner meal. Their proprietary blend coffee comes from a local shop - tasty! Breakfast was delicious and was very pretty with a garnish of a rosemary sprig filled with blossoms and a pansy - loved it!

We look forward to returning to the area and staying there again!

My wife and I were able to get away for a couple days and began the journey by driving two hours through a snow storm. We were enchanted immediately by Cape Charles House. Everything was well lit, bright and inviting. Bruce and Carol seemed very at ease with their roles as host and immediately relieved us of the travel tension. They seemed to anticipate our questions before we thought to ask them and always had correct information to give. The accommodations were very nice but not overdone. I did not fear to sit on the chairs or move things around. We really felt as though we were family and the house was lived in. Breakfast was hearty and tasty and well presented. I really could have lived on breakfast alone but would have missed out on the couple of fine restaurants in town. I cannot recommend any more highly the Cape Charles House as a jewel of an accommodation. We will be back!

My wife and I spent a couple of days at the Cape Charles House in December of 2012. The house was fascinating, the room was beautiful, the breakfast was incredible, and Carol and Bruce were wonderful hosts. They have a real talent for setting you at ease and making you feel at home.

We had such a relaxing time in a quaint little old town!

We certainly plan to visit Cape Charles again!

My daughter and her husband have visited The Cape Charles House in the past, and just raved about the hospitality, the food, the accommodations, the town, and the entire experience! I was so excited when she told me that a visit with her to this special place would be my birthday gift this fall. We arrived on Friday evening, to be greeted by Carol with a warm hug in the foyer before leading us to our lovely room. After dropping our bags, we met Carol in the kitchen to pick up our "welcome tray" of wine and homemade herb cheese with crackers, which we casually enjoyed in the living room before heading out for dinner at a local pub. After a fitful night's sleep, we made our way downstairs around 8:00 for a cup of fabulous coffee and the aroma of Carol's gourmet breakfast preparations, with divine dishes featuring ingredients fresh from their own garden. The meal did not disappoint - in fact, it was the highlight of the visit! Right up there with the exceptionally warm and comfortable atmosphere and relaxing spirit that Carol and Bruce offer so genuinely - and the totally enjoyable conversation we had with our fellow houseguests. I can't wait to return to Cape Charles - and, especially, to The Cape Charles House!

It truly was our pleasure to welcome your return, but the highlight was to share Cape Charles House with your delightful Mum (who looks like she could be your twin). Wishing you a lovely holiday and do hope we will see you again soon.
