“Hidden Gem in Burke”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

Good restaurants in the Springfield-Burke area are rare. Rafagino is the exception. Their innovative menus, friendly but competent service, and thoughtful wine list make for an excellent dining experience.

My wife and I eat here nearly every week, and there's always something to please. The tuna tartare, with avocado, sesame seeds and oil, and a topping of anchovy paste (by request) served in a cup held by a penguin statuette is a favorite starter. Another favorite appetizer is the mussels, served in a copper bowl, with a wonderful broth heated with jalapeños. Entrees are equally delicious, from the excellent paella (my favorite) to linguini al fruitto di mare, with either red or white sauce. Rosa's daily appetizer specials might include eggplant parmigiana or shrimp ceviche. entree specials can range from pasta with boar bolognese to osso bucco. There's always a soup del giorno, salad specials, cold and hot appetizer specials, a pasta, meat, and fish special, in addition to the regular menu.

Finally, save room for dessert! From Rosa's tiramisu to chocolate cake, they are all great.

Rafagino is open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner; you'll see us there nearly every Tuesday.

“Pricey and pretentious”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

This area needs a good white tablecloth restaurant. While Rafagino's supplies the setting inside, the food and service are always disappointing. It is possible to find great food at small restaurants in this area, just not here. It's always expensive, and not quite good enough.

“Romantic and Delicious”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

This is our favorite restaurant in the local area. Even located in the corner of a strip mall, it's quiet and lovely. Never had a bad meal here. Service is excellent and staff is great. The owners, Paul and Rosa (the chef) are always friendly and congenial. Several different varieties of delicious dishes to choose from. Great wine list, however no alcohol/bar. Rosa's tiramisu is to die for. She also travels back to Italy (Tuscan region) always searching for more delicious concoctions. We know about the wine tasting on the last Sunday of the month, but haven't tried it yet. Plan to soon. Don't really want to recommend this restaurant as we feel it's our own little piece of Italy, but must highly recommend.

“Reliable, comfy, dinner for special occasions”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

This Italian/Mediterranean restaurant is a real find. While mostly Italian they have a paella that is outstanding. On the last Sunday of the Month they have a wine pairing dinner based on a specific region of the Mediterranean. Excellent! in all respects.

“Excellent Local Owned Italian Restaurant!”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

The first time my father and I chose to eat at Rafagino's was because we were in the mood for Italian food and the restaurant was close to home. From our very first visit, we were very impressed with the service, the food, and the atmosphere.

This restaurant is truly an old fashioned classy locally owned Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is very classy and romantic with the decor and the soft lighting. The service is always excellent. The waitress are always super polite and very attentive. Also, the owner always make a point of visiting each table and briefly chatting with each of the customers.

The food is great and what you would expect from an old fashioned classy privately owned Italian restaurant. The Ceasers salad is one the best I have every had, and I order it every time. I also highly recommend the Penne Bolognese pasta dish, and the Cotoletta di Vitello con Funghi (12oz Veal Chop). For desert, the Tiramisu is the best I have every had.

Rafagino's also has one of that largest wine lists I have ever seen.

While the menu prices at Rafagino's are a little expensive, in my opinion, the prices are completely worth the food quality, service quality, and the atmosphere.
