We enjoyed our visit very much. It was so nice and peaceful at Red Hill. Attendance was light so we could take our time and not feel hurried in anyway. His final resting place away from the world in this remote place was very touching.

Red Hill exceeded our expectations. It was absolutely charming, filled with wonderful pieces of Patrick Henry's life. The Visitors Cemter is friendly, though small, but feels "just right". There is a small museum with original documents and furnishings from his home. There is a nice video about his life--a touch dated but still I for, active. The gift shop is lovely--we picked up some Red Hill wine and a band box made by a local physician. The grounds are beautiful in their simplicity, and the view of the mountains is nothing short of gorgeous. There are several buildings, and the original law office he and his wife lived in when they first moved there. I enjoyed the visit very much--and highly recommend a visit to the home of this remarkable Patriot.

This site is definitely off the beaten path, but don't let that prevent you from coming. The entire visit is self-guided, but a guide will be in the museum to show you the video and the small gallery in the visitor's center. Our guide was well-informed and enjoyable. She clearly showed a love for Patrick Henry and Red Hill. After the brief video and gallery, you can walk about the buildings at your own pace. The views just beyond the main house are very nice. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by.

My wife and I visited Red Hill this weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the exhibit. Start with the movie and museum to give you the background on the "least known founding father" before heading out on your self-guided tour of the buildings and grounds.
The description in the guide-paper of the house left us a little confused as it didn't seem to line up with what we were actually looking at. I would suggest a few signs and descriptions in the actual buildings to help visitors understand what they are looking at, but it was not bad at all. Everything is very well restored or re-created to be what it would have been like in the late 1700's to early 1800's.
Walk through the grounds and get a feel for what it must have been like 200 years ago.

Hello Frank! Thank you so much for coming to visit Patrick Henry's Red Hill. I hope you did enjoy your visit. We always like to hear from the visitors and I appreciate your suggestions about the signs needed on the grounds. We will keep these in mind when we order new signage. We hope to see you again!
