1.) It's no longer Java J's, but when it was, they couldn't consistently produce the same espresso/drink. At $4.00 a cup, I'd like consistency & quality, thank you.
2.) I've not been in since the change of owners (and name = Grind House).
3.) Hoping the Grind House (interesting choice of name), can prove to offer something better

a very nice place to go for breakfast. just what a coffee place was supposed to be but I felt like there could have been more selections pastry/ muffin- wise. all in all, nice place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea.

When I'm working in Bristol, I usually stop in at Java J's for coffee and a Panini. The coffee is as would be expected. The sandwiches are good but take quite a while, so this is a place to eat if you're not in a hurry.

Java J's has a big backroom area with couches and tables and is a really good place for conversation with a friend or business associate. It isn't the kind of place you would take someone you're trying to impress. Rather, it is the right place for to go with someone you have a good relationship with and want to enjoy the atmosphere with some good coffee. It's also a good place to work if you have a laptop and need WIFI for an hour or two.

On the food, their specialties are the Italian Gelato, which is somewhere between Ice Cream and Sherbet. The Paninis, as I mentioned, are very good. They also have good fruit smoothies.

Be advised that on Friday nights they usually have a loud band which makes it impossible to have conversation.

I just left Java J's this morning after enjoying a great cup of coffee. I live in Bristol, and have been here many times. The service is always good, the menu selections great, and the atmosphere much better than the local Starbucks (Java J's has overstuffed, comfy couches, etc.). It is a regular meeting place for the locals, which says alot. The coffee is not cheap, but you get what you pay for...
