With no local alternatives, Beliveau Estate fills the void but lacks the depth to truly satisfy. Offering an endearing atmosphere comprised of rustic charm and a stone patio overlooking picturesque mountain views, this winery is a worthwhile stop when visiting Blacksburg.
Setting itself apart with a liberal pet policy, the outside bar tasting experience is informal and unique. At $5 for a sampling of 6 wines, you can easily find a bottle to bring home. The staff is accommodating and knowledgeable, but the wine leaves something to be desired. The shop is small and tours are not available.
While locally significant, the term "estate" is a possible misnomer. There is nothing extravagant about this destination and while quite pleasing, Beliveau's simplicity is simply anticlimactic.
