Beautifully maintained historic house surrounded by 60-acres was well worth the trip for Sunday afternoon tea. The tea menu was excellent and afterwards the owner gave us a tour of the house and shared the story of each room named for historic guests. The wait-staff and events coordinator were also very knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely make another trip back here for a special occasion.

Room Tip: Berryville is a small, quiet community. Rosemont Manor is the perfect setting for a wedding or othe...

Not just a wedding destination but an exciting and amazing stay. A long driveway framed by azaleas leads to the mansion. We enjoyed the Churchill suite with its views, large soaking tub and double vanity. No TV but the Ipod dock is a nice treat. The spacious suite is located at the end of a long hallway in a very quiet area of the mansion.
Upon check-in we were presented with coupons for wine tastings, local restaurants and Dan the cookie guy.( don't miss him great cookies).
There is a welcome reception on your night of arrival where you have a chance to meet the staff.
The location of Berryville is ideal for discovering the area. We visited Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry and many wineries on the way.
Our package included a picnic basket the second day which we enjoyed in a vineyard. For dinner we can highly recommend the "Battletown Inn". The food is awesome and so is the service. There is a nice outdoor patio as well to enjoy lunch on a sunny day.
Breakfast at Rosemont Manor is elegantly served and varies from day to day. It was freshly prepared and was delicious. There are options if you have dietary restrictions.
We had friends visit us during our stay at Rosemont Manor to show of our suite and especially enjoyed the company of Bill North ( general manager) and Biff Genda the owner. We learned to many interesting details of the Manor. A memorable time ! We will be back!!!

My daughter and I stayed at the Manor for two nights. We were immediately brought back to what it must have been like over 200 years ago! A true masterpiece of remodeling and details were put into the B&B! We stayed in the Byrd's Study, the only room with a balcony overlooking the Portico and the magnificent grounds. The communial breakfasts served on fine china were delightful and delicious. The picnic lunches that we were given upon departure were just icing on the cake. The bed was so comfortable and there were no tv's in the room. We actually slept until noon one day! With just an hour's drive from DC, you have the countryside at its finest. In addition, the steaks at Battletown Inn in Berryville were as good as The Capital Grille in Denver, Colorado.

Thank you, Debra, for taking the time to write a review. We are so glad you and your daughter had a memorable and relaxing time at Rosemont. The Byrd's Study not only has a magnificent view from its balcony, but it is also ripe with history, having once been the study of Senator Harry F. Byrd, Sr. (The room still bears the names of his children and their heights, etched on the inside of a door within the suite!) We are also glad that you enjoyed your breakfast and picnic lunch -- we pride ourselves on both. Thanks again for your kind words, and we hope that you will be back to see us again soon.

Just came back from Rosemont; what a wonderful experience. A twelve room bed and breakfast (no children under 12) with a 200 year old history. Large plantation style house that has been beautifully furnished - every room is different. Stayed in the Johnson Suite and enjoyed all the peace and quiet of the estate. Staff was especially wonderful; helpful and accomodating. Grounds beautiful - flowers and bushes blooming everywhere. Could go on and on about this Manor but, you will just have to go there yourself to see how wonderful it is. It only took about 3 1/4 hours to get there from Pa. and it was a beautiful rides. Nearby Shoenadoah National Park and numerous wineries kept us busy while we were there. Will definitely be returning soon.

Room Tip: Did not really see any room that was not a good choice. You can pick your room over the website.

Thank you, Nancy, for sharing your experience at Rosemont. We are so glad you made the scenic drive down from Pennsylvania to be with us. You definitely picked a great time of year to be with us as our spring blooms were at their peak -- but of course, we think Rosemont is beautiful any time of year! Thank you especially for saying that people need to "see for themselves how wonderful Rosemont is" -- we often say that to potential guests, brides, and families. We are blessed to have many beautiful and historic things to capture in photographs, but all pale in comparison to the real thing. Thanks again for your kind words, and come see us again soon!

What a wonderful place to celebrate almost any occasion. The grounds were in full bloom, the house is beautiful, the staff accommodating and very personable. The Churchill suite was the entire end of the second floor and had windows on all three sides, looking out over gorgeous grounds. Our suite was spacious (the guestrooms, however, are quite small, though lovely) with lots of chests. The breakfasts are delicious and served on beautiful china in the lovely dining room. The welcome reception with wine, cheese and crackers, and fruit was refreshing and enjoyed in the chairs on the lawn.

If you make a trip to D.C. and want to get away from the crowds for a couple of days, there is no better place to stay than this place! During the non high-traffic periods of the day, it's only about an hour drive from D.C. The inn itself is just beautiful and has only been open to the public as an inn for a few years. It was the prior residence at one time of the former govenor Harry Byrd. While it used to have about 500 acres attached to it, I think it has all been sold off except for about 50-60 acres, but there is still plenty of room to feel like you are isolated. You drive down a long winding road to reach the house. Once inside, there is a great entrance and a beautiful stairwell leading to the bedrooms. I believe there are around 4 suites and 10 or so regular bedrooms. They leave the doors open of the ones not in use, so we peeked in the empty rooms and they are all beautiful. We stayed in the Churchill Suite, and it had great views and was very large. Each morning we had a nice breakfast and the wait starff was very nice and helpful. Since we bought a package, they included a picnic lunch for us our second day, which was very good and unexpected! I would say the only slightly down side to staying there is that the really excellent restaurants close to Berryville are in Winchester, which is about 10 miles away, but no big deal really. You are close to many many winieries, so that's a plus to staying there. I would definitely go back to this inn!

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and I don't think you could choose a bad room. All the suites are big and be...

Thank you so much for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! At Rosemont, we have 5 Luxury Suites, 6 Guest Rooms, and our newest addition, the "Byrd's Nest" which is a detached cottage which we often call "the honeymoon suite". The grounds are made up of 60 acres, most of which is manicured and available for a leisurely stroll, picnic lunch, or just to "sit a spell" in one of our adirondack chairs.

As far as restaurants, as you said there are a number of wonderful places in nearby Winchester, but we also recommend the Battletown Inn located just down the road from Rosemont in Berryville, as well as L'Auberge Provencale which is located a few minutes outside of Berryville on Route 340.

Again, thank you for sharing your experience at Rosemont and we hope to see you again soon!

My boyfriend and I both needed a vacation full of relaxation so we booked a trip to Rosemont Manor for three nights. Brian and I had never stayed at a B&B so we were a little nervous about what our weekend would entail. We arrived on Friday evening around 4:30pm and we were greeted the second we walked in the door. The hostess checked us in, gave us a package that included: (6) free tasting passes for local wineries, multiple coupons for local eateries, and a map to help us get around. The hostess brought us to our room and as we were walking up the stairs Andrew, the Innkeeper, said "Carly! Is that you? Welcome to Rosemont!" It was a very nice touch and made us feel at home immediately! Upon entering the room, we were extremely pleased. We chose The Eisenhower Suite - it was a beautiful room from the claw foot tub to the iPod docking station.

That night we went out and found a little town called Middleburg. We had dinner at a little pub in town. The food and service were both enjoyable. After dinner we went back to Rosemont. We crept quietly into the house and were immediately flagged into the living room by some of the other guests. There were three couples staying at Rosemont that night, who had all stayed there previously, and they were a delight! We stayed up for a few hours talking and enjoying a couple cocktails. The next morning Brian and I woke up around 8:00am and headed down for breakfast shortly thereafter. We were given impeccable service and the breakfast was WONDERFUL! The chef came out to check on us and told us she was making her specialty - Gingerbread Pancakes.. yummm!!

That day we headed out for our Winery Tour around 11am. The first winery we visited, which ended up being our favorite, was North Gate. The lady who was hosting the tasting for us was actually the owner. She told us all about the grapes, what goes into the execution of a superior wine product, and why she enjoys it so much. Buy the apple wine! It is amazzzzing! We also visited Bluemont, Veramar, and Hillsborough. By the way - the hostesses at Veramar were very extremely friendly! We had a great time there as well!

After visiting all of the wineries, we went back to Rosemont and enjoyed a nice bottle of rose outside in the adirondack chairs that overlooked the property. We watched the sunset, took a little nap, and headed back out. We had dinner at The Berryville Grille. It is a very nice spot with afforable eats! After dinner we went to Winchester, which is a small town located about 10 minutes away from Berryville. Winchester has a slue of little pubs, restaurants, and shops. Brian and I found Piccadilly Public House - it had great music and a friendly staff! We actually ended up going back the next day!

We wrapped up our weekend by enjoying a lovely picnic lunch on Sunday (packed by Andrew!), strolling through the town of Winchester, and then going to L'auberge Provencale for Easter dinner. I highly recommend you check out that restaurant - it is wonderful!!

The entire vacation was perfect. We will certainly be going back!!

Room Tip: They are all beautiful! I recommend you go for a suite! They are HUGE!

Dear Carly,

Thank you so much for your review! We absolutely loved having you here at Rosemont and it sounds like you made the most of your time in the area. Kudos on your choices -- from the wineries to the Berryville Grille, to taking the time to enjoy the sunset views from the Portico. Middleburg and Winchester are also great locations to take in while you are here, so I'm pleased that you were able to fit those visits in as well.

So glad to hear that you enjoyed your top-notch breakfast! We are certainly blessed with wonderful cooks and I agree - those gingerbread pancakes are fabulous!

Thank you also for mentioning the Eisenhower Suite with its clawfoot tub - it's one of our favorites, too.

Again, we appreciate your kind words, and we look forward to seeing you at Rosemont again soon.

Warmly,

William "Biff" Genda
