“Very Good Food in a Great Ambiance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

Our host at our B&B recommended Liberty Station and we went without a reservation at 7:00 on a Friday night. We were told there would be a 15 minute wait by one of the hostesses. It was much closer to 5 minutes when were seated. The hostess who sat us asked us for what we would like to drink and brought our drinks promptly. We had been on the road most of the day and were not ravenous. I ordered the spinach-artichoke heart dip with tortilla chips and a side Caesar salad. My wife had the house salad. The one downside for me was the excess of mozzarella cheese melted on top of the dip. The tortilla chips were excellent and not overly thick or salty (perfect). The restaurant had obviously found out about how impossible it was to use the thin chips to dip through the mozzarella and provided a tablespoon to ladle the dip on the chips. It was excellent with the exception of too much cheese. The side Caesar salad was very good. My wife's salad was very good. She had asked for a vinaigrette dressing instead of the creamy dressing that came with the salad. Our waitress was surprised we didn't want the creamy dressing, a theme for the night. A steaming pot of three breads arrived and looked wonderful. Unfortunately, they were all sweet, not our taste in breads. Again a surprise to our waitress. My wife then had the peach cobbler for dessert. She asked for a small amount of vanilla ice cream on top. Another surprise. The cobbler was excellent. We really enjoyed our waitress, her sister who was one of the hostesses, and waved to her parents when we asked her if the people she had sat down with were the owners and they got a laugh. All in all a very good meal and night. Go, you will enjoy yourself!

“Good food . . . great ambiance!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2013

This is a special place to eat in Bedford. The prime rib is wonderful. I've also had the raspberry chicken dish, which was terrific. But count on a wonderful prime rib!!! It's always been the best. Great Bloody Mary's, also. The restaurant is set in the former train station, and it's quite attractive. Service has always been wonderful here, also. We come to Bedford occasionally since we have a second home here and this is our favorite restaurant.

“Great atmosphere, food ok”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

I had the salt and pepper catfish. It tasted like the top fell off the salt shaker and all of the salt fell into the batter. I like salt, but this was way over salted. We had air conditioning blowing on us and the service was slow and not that good. I would go back again and give them another chance as I have had good meals there before.

“Great Ribs!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2013

We visited this restaurant while staying at a B&B in Bedford, VA. It is the site of an old railroad station--actually the original building burned in Sept. 2009 and was rebuilt. The atmosphere is nice and one would think that you are in a train station. The food was excellent--ribs were to die for! Service was great and the owner/manager stopped by our table twice to be sure everything was ok. Very popular with locals. You won't go wrong here!

“Great Local Place to Dine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Olde Liberty Station is a great local place dine in Bedford, VA. It is locally owned and operated. The food is very good, dishes that are special just to them. The cheese cake is the best around. The service is very friendly and very good. The old train station is nostalgic, especially when a real train passes by the windows. It can get a little noisy in there when it is busy, but is does not effect the dinning pleasure. Worth going to if you are visiting the Bedford area or the National D-Day Memorial.
