The Peaks of Otter winery is nestled in the foothills of the Peaks. It is on a vast, gorgeous property with areas for the whole family. Wine tasting inside, apple trees, fun signs and statues for photo-ops and animals for the kids. Their wine is unique and delicious, made from various fruits with countless awards to show for it. Try the Kiss the Devil and chili dog wines, quite an experience.

Peaks of Otter Winery is situated in the middle of the family orchard, not really at Peaks of Otter but close. The building appears to have been built as a tractor shed originally and then turned into a winery attraction. The show for the tasting is on a rather primitive arrangement of rough cut boards along the tops of barrels. The wines were almost all sweet fruity wines with some very interesting wines thrown in that could be for cooking, I think. While I like sweet wines, if I'm going to drink wine, almost everything they had was like fruit juice with a punch.
We approached from the Shenandoah Valley and our GPS took us over the mountain on a road that continued to narrow after the pavement stopped, one of the switchbacks was so tight I had to back up to get around the turn.
I seriously doubt we will go there again.
