“Solid food, solid service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

We stopped by the Anchor on a very busy Saturday night. The hostess took our name, gave a very accurate estimate of when we'd get seated, and best of all, checked back every few minutes to let us know we were still on schedule. Our server, Larry, was the best. He was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Our food, prime rib for one of us and parmesan crusted tilapia for the other, was well-prepared and delicious. The clam chowder was tasty but a bit short on clams. We'll be back to Wilmington and back to the Anchor.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

For a Brit the service given by some restaurant staff in the US can be a bit over the top, but Larry was just great!
Is this a pub or a restaurant? You know what.. I don't care. my grown up family went in for a drink and a meal. Excellent.
Atmosphere super. Apparently the place burned down recently and was built back as it was. Good job.
If you go there do have the French Onion soup. I am no chef and couldn't say how it compares to the best, but this was great.
We went for the burgers, but there was more sophisticated food on the menu. Pretty much all of it seemed to be local.
That being said.. forget the American cheese, very bland. Go instead for the local Vermont Cheddar and forget the fact that, like pretty much everything there, it's got a name attached to it that's from England and just enjoy it.

“perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2013

The Anchor came highly recommended by the owners and staff at The Nutmeg Inn.They promised we wouldn't be disappointed and we weren't. The food delicious and the staff was fantastic! There were 5 in our party. One is a chef and he said his prime rib was perfect and the rest of us had seafood. My scallops were amazing and everyone else keep commenting on how their meals were great too. My second time there and will go again when we make another trip to the Nutmeg Inn (which also was fantastic).

“Outstanding service and excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Four of us went to The Anchor for a New Years dinner. The restaurant was packed, but we were seated a few minutes after arriving. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and super attentive. From the moment we sat, he shook hands with my husband and talked to us like we were old friends. Throughout the night, he made food recommendations and helped 1 member of our party navigate a tricky allergy by talking ingredients with her. The food was delicious, with lobster being a popular choice. The atmosphere was cozy and festive but not too loud. On what could have been a night with a prix fixe menu with food that was subpar, it turned out to be a fantastic dining experience with great food and exceptional service. I would highly recommend The Anchor to anyone staying in this area.

“The Anchor Restaurant, Wilmington, vT”

Was a quite night in Wilmington but the staff greeted us warmly and service overall was excellent. Excellent burger and fries and cole slaw although their menu is much more expansive than that!
