We stopped at the Red Shutter Inn for 2 nights in April. Our room ,the Wilmington, was tired (pretty scruffy carpet) and the housekeeping after we returned from a day out non existant (we had to make our own bed). The new owner seems keen but at dinner took a very long time to bring us a drink. Our meal was reasonably good and the breakfasts were excellent. For the price charged this Inn is seriously over-priced and the new owners do need to sharpen up their act and spruce the place up. Until they do then look somewhere else to stay in this pretty area.

We stayed at the Red Shutter Inn one weekend and would not return there again. The bed was very uncomfortable we found some very minor problems with the room. I communicated with them my thoughts...and never heard a response from them. I would not reccomend staying there for the prices that they charge.

My boyfriend and I spent a recent weekend at the Red Shutter Inn while we skiied at nearby Mt. Snow. Amie and Hannah (the new innkeepers) were very pleasant and accomodating. We booked one of the queen sized rooms in the main building which, while cozy and quaint, did lack a hairdryer and an iron/ironing board. These aren't really crucial when you're spending a weekend on the slopes but it would've been nice to have when we "cleaned up" for dinner our first evening.

For dinner, we were given a table by the fireplace which was nice after skiing all day. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was lively with lots of people dining in the main room. If you're looking for a quiet dinner, I wouldn't recommend going on a weekend! But the servers were attentive despite all the patrons.

Breakfast is served from 8:30am to 9:30am and instead of having the food laid out for you, you select items off a menu that are then brought to you in several courses over the course of the hour. The selections of juices, tea/coffee, breads, fresh fruits, eggs, bacon/sausage, and homefries were very good, however if you're on a tight schedule (which we were) it isn't the best way to have breakfast.

Bottom line: the Red Shutter Inn has cozy rooms and a wonderful restaurant...perfect if you're looking for a leisurely weekend in VT...and not on a tight schedule.

Lucylee and Gerry Gingras -- innkeepers-- along with Michael Glatz -- chef -- helped make our wedding one that many of our family and friends said was the best they ever attended.

We had a small wedding of about 40 people, and filled each of the 9 rooms at the inn. Everyone was pleased with their accomodations and enjoyed their stay, from the ease of reserving to the delicious breakfasts.

The Gingrases and Chef Michael outdid themselves the whole weekend of the wedding. From the simple elegant table settings to the understated and efficient service, from the farmstead cheeses to the cooked to order gourmet wedding feast, from the careful and receptive planning process to the hand-selected wines...all of it was a delight.

We decided to hold our wedding at the Red Shutter Inn after a wonderful meal at their restaurant, but the entire experience exceeded our expectations. While we hope we won't be getting married again soon (!!) we will definitely return to the Red Shutter Inn frequently for meals and would recommend it to anyone who wants a lovely, personalized, wedding in a rural, sweet, charming inn.

The Red Shutter Inn is a beautiful, country inn in the heart of Wilmington. The rooms are clean and decorated with such great taste. The food in the restaurant is above average, and the service is superb. The innkeepers are so welcoming. They make you feel like you are at home. If you are looking for a place to go for a week or a weekend, this is a must.

My wife and I recently stayed at The Red Shutter Inn in Wilmington VT and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in "Bette's Room" in the carriage house and it was a wonderful experience. The room s are well appointed with antiques, wonderful reading materials , armoires and comfortable furniture. The Innkeepers, Gerry and Lucylee Gingras go far and above the call of duty to insure a very plesant experience. All rooms have private baths and in many cases are suites with gas fireplaces and exquisite furnishings and jaccuzzis in each suite. The restaurant features a large stone fireplace, large french doors that open out to a large welcoming deck for drinks and dining as well. The food is prepared by award winning Chef de Cuisine "Grahm" and is absolutley wonderful. Gerry Gingras is also a certified and experienced Chef in his own right so the focus on excellence is very apparent in all they do to serve you. The deserts are also to "die for". The Inn is located 1/4 mile past Route 100 in Wilmington center with all of it's shops and restaurants a short 2 minute walk away from the Inn.
All in all, we had a wonderfully relaxing weekend away from work and would recommend the Red Shutter to those that want to decompress and enjoy a slower pace of life for awhile, without giving up the the little "niceities".
