Lodge at Mount Snow
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Our recent stay at the lodge was very disappointing. All we were looking for was a clean room and a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately we received neither. I had reserved a “superior” room via the internet, upon arrival we were checked into a standard room. When I inquired about the room I was told that internet reservations were automatically assigned a room with no consideration of type. Our room was very “dated” and not very clean, the entire wing had a terrible odor. Unfortunately it only got worse, housekeeping never came on Saturday and there was a shortage of washcloths because laundry was never done that day. Needless to say we were happy to leave. We will return to Mount Snow but we will be looking for better accommodations.

We thought it was a great place to stay while we skied Mount Snow. Our rooms faced the hill so we had a fine view. The wi-fi was fast & breakfast is included. We rented two rooms & got a pretty good deal. Staff were friendly & the cleaning staff did a great job with our rooms. They took the time to hang up the boys soggy gloves to dry, really appreciated the extra effort. As for the hill, the terrain park is huge. Most of the other runs are geared toward beginner/intermediate skiers. Not much for the black diamond crowd.

Room Tip: Upper floors may be a bit quieter. It is a wood building.

We enjoy staying here due to the proximity of the mountain. The breakfast buffet is filling with a good variety of hearty food to fuel your day on the mountain. We enjoy using the hot tub. We ate dinner in the bar one night because of a major snow storm. The service was friendly and the burger and fries were tasty. My husband had a pizza and can't recommend it. The refrigerator in the room froze our food, even though it was set on a very low setting. Overall, you get what you pay for....a cheap room close to the mountain.

The Lodge at Mount Snow is a bit dated, but very budget-friendly. A free shuttle ride to the mountain (The Village, via the Moover) is just a few minutes away (coming back takes a bit longer, are it's toward the end of the shuttle stop). The rooms haven't been updated in a while (think old phones, dated decor) and the walls tend to be thin, but if you're there for skiing, the rooms will do the trick. The rooms are clean and warm, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. You also get a complimentary hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, pancakes), which is a nice touch. There's also a hot-tub and exercise studio. Overall, I'd recommend, and will be returning.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor tend to be quieter, but there's no elevator so it can be a hike with lugg...

I am only giving this place two stars because of great location. One would think that a lodge overlooking the ski slopes would be fairly nice. That was not the case!
First of all, the smell. The minute we walked in the lodge, i wanted to throw up. It smelled like mildew and chlorine and God-knows-what else. They tried to mask it with Febreeze plug-ins, which made it even worse.
We purchased a deal on Livingsocial for two nights stay with dinner credit and 4 drinks (paid $300 for two nights, so it's not like it was super cheap). The fact that we didn't even use drink vouchers probably says a lot. The deal was for the room with mountain view. When we showed up, we were shown a room overlooking the noisy road with two beds (it was me and my boyfriend). We were willing to overlook a "non-view" situation and asked for a room with one bed. There were none, so they gave us a room with a parking-lot view which was "downstairs", where it REALLY smelled like chlorine, but we figured at least it will be quiet. Big mistake! HUGE! We literally could hear conversations people were having in the room above, and it felt like the ceiling was going to collapse under their feet. The rooms and the whole place are outdated and didn't look or smell clean, the beds are super uncomfortable and we slept in our clothes.
That wasn't the end of our troubles. When we got back from skiing the next day and tried to take a shower, there was no hot water!!! We were on the verge of getting a room in different place or driving back to New York, but they were able to move us to different room because someone checked out.
Breakfast was a buffet style, but for some reason they chose not to put heaters under the trays, and everything was cold. I don't have to mention that we chose not to use out dinner credit and went to eat to one of our favorite places down there
I can't really comment on staff, because we really didn't see anyone, but the housekeeping girl who helped us moved to different room was nice.
What a shame that a place in such a great location is such disappointment!

Room Tip: Stay away!

As soon as I walked in, it reminded me of the places we stayed on ski trips in college. The staff was warm and friendly but the place looked run down and old. Our king bed was fine but the pull out couch for my kids was so old that it sunk right down in the middle. One of the blankets looked new and the other two were so old and grungy looking I immediately covered them with sheets. One blanket had a cigarette burn in it. The walls are thin and we had to keep the tv on to drown out the sound of the people in the next room in order to fall asleep.
The place was clean, location great, lounge, breakfast and dinner at the restaurant all decent. My kids had a great time and it was nice to have a place we could all hang out after skiing. The prices were very reasonable but unless they made some changes I would not return.

We loved it. This was our first time to this site. We're DINKs, though there were plenty of families w/ kids staying there, too. While as DINKs we had options, we are happy we chose this Lodge. Unbeatable location, extremely hospitable staff (Amy and Ashley were both particularly warm and wonderful), outstanding food, a facility that delivered what we expected, and an owner who "gets it" and who takes the time to know his visitors. For this trip, we wanted "budget-conscious but comfy," and the Lodge at Mount Snow delivered. It allowed us to stretch our $ farther than we ever expected while still exceeding our getaway expectations.

Let's get our one complaint out of the way up-front: yes, the facility is dated. But honestly, so are 90% of the hotels in the area, and 100% of them cost more. We got a comfortable room, king sized bed, mountain view room, cable TV, and easy access to the lounge, food and the mountain itself. No one stays closer to the mountain at this price. From the Lodge, people can walk, take the free public bus or drive the 30 seconds to the base camp. You're close enough to walk, its just a bit clumsy with skis and boots. But the drive/bus takes seconds.

The Lodge offers something for everyone. It offers video games for kids, a gym, a bar, a hot tub, excellent food and drink at the restaurant and bar. I cannot emphasize enough how impressed we were with the food.

We loved Mount Snow, so we will return. When we do, we will stay again at the Lodge since there is no good no reason to pay more for less elsewhere. You can stay further away from Mount Snow for more $ for less in service, location, amenities and good-ol'-fashioned-heart. Or, stay at the Lodge. And yes, the owner, who we met our last night, really impressed us, too, and he told us about all the little touches he offers for his customers. We're sold, we're excited to return.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ends are quieter, ask for a mountain view room, higher floors have less noise though lo...
