I had read the prior reviews about this lodge on Trip Advisor and was a bit hesitant about booking a stay. The offer for a mid-week ski package that included lift ticket, continental breakfast and free ski overnight rental was just too good to pass up. I liked Wally's Pub in the hotel where you could get a limited but good dinner menu. We had a plumbing issue with the room and a custodian was there within minutes to attend to. The lodge is old and does not have plush surroundings but I really liked it for the great value I got out of the ski package.
It also has an indoor and an outdoor hot tub that I did not try. And the proximity to the ski area and the fact that it is on the Mover route made it a great choice for a quick mid week get away.

Let's start with the good points....and there are only two....the staff is incredibly HELPFUL and NICE...very important. Second, the location can't be beat. That about sums it up. DO NOT STAY IN ROOMS NEAR THE ELEVATORS if you want to be kept up all night. The "band" that was booked to play in the Snow Barn was luckily placed on our floor (all of us family with kids) and we were kept up all night from the music blaring from the barn, and then when they all came back from their evening performance. The lack of respect of the PATRONS of this place is what ticked me off the most....hello....are we not all paying the same money? Can you please keep it down at 2:30AM when we all have little kids who are trying to sleep?! Or better yet, how about putting the families up on the 3rd and 4th floors and the "partyers" on the 1st and 2nd floor. Breakfast is included but nothing fancy. One note for the management to consider for Room 417 where we stayed....there is no SUB FLOOR underneath the bathtub....the bathtub floor literally moved underneath your feet...not a particularly safe feeling. Anyway, we will not be back. I do applaud the staff though for their consideration and friendliness....that's about all this place has going for it.

We had a room at the end of the hall, which made it really quiet. While the room was very clean, we did have several issues: the window in the living room didn't close all the way, leaving a 1/2-inch gap, the door did not have a deadbolt, the bath amenities were mismatched (maybe that's trivial but it leaves a poor impression), the bars of soap were little more than slivers, too much furniture was crammed into the bedroom, leaving barely any room to move, and the tube TVs could stand to be replaced by flat screens. It is a funky building, though, and I thought that maybe they should embrace the retro vibe and paint the rooms fun colors, highlighting the exposed pipes, making them a feature rather than trying to blend them in. The Wildwood in Snowmass, CO is a good example of taking a dated property and giving it fresh personality with a retro decor.

Could definitely use a few renovations but has everything needed for a ski getaway. Breakfast was small but good. The room was clean and bed was really comfortable, the tv could really have used some better reception though. The hallway and elevator could use some febreeze as it has the old musty smell from all the skiiers in and out. Staff was very friendly and this hotel is a definite place to consider again.

I reserved this place for 2 nights the Friday before School vacation week and was surprised to get a room for me and my 2 girls. The good: place is clean and warm, close to the slopes and the shuttle is very convenient. Bad: Walls are thin - it seems people in the hallway are in the room with you. And then there's Walt's Pub. We decided to go there one night, being tired after skiing and it was snowing outside. Well, this was something out of a bad sitcom. Service was abysmal, the waitress came over to us after about 15 minutes to take our order and she was complaining about everything the whole time she was with us. About 45 minutes later the food arrived, it was not bad. We ordered a salad with Ranch dressing - got the salad, no dressing. We ate our meal and tried to get the waitresses attention the whole time, to no avail. So she never came over to us once after the food came to see if all was well. I finally tracked her down to get the check and she never said a word to us! Truly pitiful! So bottom line - ok place, go out to eat!

We went to Snow Lake Lodge with fairly low expectations. It was less than 1/2 the price of the resort's main Grand Summit Hotel which we'd stayed in and liked however given we were booking a few days before MLK holiday weekend we figured we'd try it since it was still in resort and fairly cheap.

And we were presently surprised. The room was basic but clean and adequate. The bathroom was just fine, had reasonable toiletries and the TV worked and had cable. The heating made the room a good temperature and there was room to hang out ski stuff up. The beds and pillows were adequate and comfortable - though we did bring out own pillows too. So far, so good.

The breakfast wasn't cooked but was also good. Coffee, juice, muffins, toast, cereal, oatmeal and more... plenty to start your day on the mountain. The breakfast room also had a great view on the mountain which was a nice way to start the day.

There was also a bar which served plenty of beer, had a fireplace, showed football and did reasonable bar food. Also there was an indoor hot tub which we tried and was good to soak tired limbs. There was an outdoor one too but we didn't try that - plenty of other seemed to like it.

The front desk were very helpful. We left something in our room after checking out and they went to retrieve it for us, called us to let us know and are sending it on. We also wanted an extra blanket for one of our party which they sorted out for us no problem.

Getting to the slopes was east enough. We also used the 'moover' bus which was a 15 minute journey. We also got free tickets to leave our skis/snowboards at the slopes overnight which was a welcome convenience.

So what's not to like? Well, it's all a bit basic and clearly a value, non-luxury option. As mentioned in other reviews the wall are very thin. If anyone is making a lot of noise around you then you will hear it. And bear in mind given it's a value option there were a lot of young people around. But we certainly didn't have a problem sleeping - though perhaps we were lucky.

All in all we'd recommend it as a value option.

Room Tip: Rooms on high floors facing the slopes are best. Pay the extra few dollars for slope facing.

Previously stayed at the Grand Summit, which was nice, but is more expensive, and well... a little boring. No such worries with the SLL.

Things are a little odd here and there. The TV is ancient and the cabinet that holds it seems to dominate half the room. The shower head was staring me in the face, and I am under 6 foot tall. Some dry cereal slipped between the covers and was not detected by the maid when the room got cleaned, and the toilet seat would not stay up on it's own. The heat was furnace like when we got to the room, but we straightened that out by opening the window, and adjusting the thermostat.

Despite all of that, I liked the place. The atmosphere is party city, and I had fun there. The staff was very friendly. I look forward to coming back. Families might prefer the Grand Summit. They have a jacuzz and a restaurant. I used neither.
