Based on some very old reviews of this facility, my family and I were a little hesitant about our January 11, 2008 weekend trip to the Snow Lake Lodge at Mount snow but we were pleasantly surprised and quite satisfied by what we found. Peak Resorts now looks after the property after American Ski Company's sale and we found that the facility received much needed maintenance and a little spruce-up. All the staff were extremely friendly and quite accommodating to our requests. Our lodge room (417) although not glamorous was quite adequate, clean and met our expectations for a 'Value' Room for our two evening stay. The beds were firm and the pillows were your standard fare. The bathroom showers had plenty of hot water and there was ample ability to control the temperature of the room. Some of the carpeting had been stained and one of the towel bars in the bathroom was a little loose but the room was just right for me my wife and our seven year old.

The amenities at the lodge included an outdoor hot tub, and very large and well maintained indoor hot tub and indoor sauna with Men's Women Locker Room. In the morning there was a well stocked continental breakfast on the first floor Main Lodge Great Room which included a fireplace and separate seating area with large screen TV.

With regards to location of the property, the Snow Lodge is perfectly located near the base of the mountain and accessed via the local community transit system called the 'Moover'. It's also a short 15 -20 minute ride over to the Stratton Mountain ski area which makes this a perfect alternative to some higher priced accommodations in the area.

It is also worth noting that because this property seems to be an economical property for the budget conscious skier, they tend to book ski clubs and school ski trips into the facility which could be problematic at certain times in the evening, which we found were handled quite well by the organized trip leaders and chaperones.

In conclusion, we found that the 'Bad' reviews posted on the web about this classic property at the Mount Snow ski area were a little over the top and that that this facility should be a fair consideration for those skiers seeking a quick get away to the southern Vermont ski region.

This place is pretty run down and really overpriced. I guess everything in West Dover is overpriced since Mt. Snow is the only thing there, but still, pretty disappointed.

Our room, on the third floor, was clean though and it had a great view of the mountain. But yes, the whole hotel smelled of dollar store disinfectant and the store in the lobby had nothing in it but some bottled water and a couple t-shirts...literally, that's it. Our second night there the power went out and didn't come back on for about 8 hours. We went down to the indoor spa area (which was closed; everything closed early or never opened at all) to stay warm.

Take the review for what it's worth, but I'd go to Okemo instead...

The Best way to describe Snow Lake Lodge.... is a Budget Ski Lodge. There are a lot of negative reviews but if you've done your research you will find this is one of the cheapest places to stay in the Valley, so consider that before booking. Staff is very friendly and try to make up for the less then steller accomodations. Rooms are clean, better location then any of the other "budget" places you'll find. If your just looking for a room to crash after a day on the slopes then this could be the place. And yes the walls are thin and the place needs a big makeover but then we can say good bye to having one of the cheapest place's to stay so close to the mountain.

We have been staying at Snow Lake Lodge on and off for over 10 years. I have never had a bad experience. Compared to other lodges and B&Bs, the rates are fantastic. The hot tub is usually crowded, so we kind of stay away from that. But the lounge is lovely, plenty of seating with a deck overlooking the lake. The view of the mountain is spectacular! Ask for a mountain side room when booking.
Dining Tip: Fennessey's (Dover) is AWESOME - part of the reason we keep coming back to this area of Vermont! It can be crowded during ski season, but the wait is worth it!

When I first walk in to the Lobby, it smelled like feet. But there were so many people so I thought that the smell would pass. Went into our room, started to smell dirty feet again. Realized it was just the lodge. I had trouble sleeping because it smelled like feet all night. Everything else would be decent if it wasn't for the scent of dirty feet everywhere. Definitely bring your own air freshener if you plan to stay here.

At first I thought this place was going to be great: great location, great price, pictures looked great on the website. Then we got to the lodge it was the total opposite. The bedroom and bathroom were dingy. The walls were so thin that I could hear a guy in the room above mine snoring the whole night and people going up and down the stairs. The elevator was absolutely nasty, it reeked of puke but there was none in site. It was so bad that we had to hold our breaths from the basement to the third floor. The indoor hot tub was broken the entire week; each day the person at the front desk said that it was going to be fixed the next day but that never happened. None of the water fountains worked and there was no selection for the “continental breakfast”. The next time I go to Mount Snow I’m definitely going to spend the extra money for a better place.

I stayed at Snow Lake Lodge during MLK weekend. After reading all of the previous reviews, I was so nervous about what to expect. I thought the place would be a dump, and would be a complete waste of money. Here is the real story about Snow Lake Lodge. The location is unbeatable, can walk to the Mountain as well as Snow Barn (one of the local bars there). It is the cheapest hotel in the area. And it was fun! The hot tub was packed with cute girls the entire time. We would get back to the hotel at 2-3 in the morning, and would go to the hot tub, and would be a blast. The rooms were big, and clean, and very comfortable. The only negative thing I would say is that the families kept complaining about the noise, but we really weren't even making any noise. Sharon works the late nights, and she is as sweet as can be. Kept us company by the fire place, and she is hot!! Suite 127 has a legacy, so please stay in that room and keep it alive!!!
