“No stress skiing”
Reviewed February 20, 2010

My husband and 2 sons, ages 10 and 15 stayed 3 nights Presidents week for some skiing. From the website video I was concerned the studio would not be roomy enough but it was just fine. We booked this about a month before and there were no 1 or 2 bedrooms available. The murphy pull down bed was very comfortable and so was the pull out couch. We had a view of the express lift and even me being a light sleeper the noise of the morning grooming machines did not bother me. As others said, the walls are very thin and we did have to call the front desk one night because people above us arriving late had their kids running around it sounded like in ski boots and were vacuuming at midnight (?)
We loved the ease of the valet arrival. We pulled up in front of the hotel and unloaded and they took the skiis off the top of our truck and put them into the ski check for us. So in the morning you just have to walk outside in your boots carrying your poles and get your skiis from ski check - very stress free. You do have a short walk from the ski check over to the lift but ski down right to the ski check and entrance to the hotel. We were on the 2nd floor and if you can get a room on the first floor that would eliminate the elevator wait.
The front desk has DVD's to borrow no charge.
The gym was fine for a basic work out and the outside pool and hottub very warm.
We enjoyed sitting in the hottub watching the Fat Tues. fireworks.
Every day in the lobby they had baskets of free samples of various products -granola bars, hot icy packs, shampoos, great marketing idea.
And loved the mountain!! Looking forward to another ski in ski out trip to Mt Snow!

Our three night stay in a one bedroom loft was all good at the Grand Summit Hotel. On the plus side: the loft is like a home away from home with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, two baths and two tv's. Our room overlooked a ski run and the ski lifts. Housekeeping was prompt and good.

Places do seem to close early, however, so if you are a night owl, you are out of luck. Also, if you don't do winter sports, there is no place else to go. Bring a good book or spend some bucks in the spa I guess.

We found "The Deli" in the hotel to be the best place for breakfast and lunch. Great staff and good food. For dinner there are plenty of restaurants down the road to choose from as well as a fairly good one at the hotel.

The mountain was great. Mid-week was ideal. We heard it can be crowded on long weekends and holidays. Good conditions, fun skiing and snow boarding. The Sport Shoppe in the hotel is really nice and helpful. Everyone around the hotel and Mt. Snow was friendly.

We did think the hotel was pricey as our loft was $365/nite plus taxes. Of course, ski-in, ski-out, was fantastic and our room was located at the end of the hotel where we just walked out of the door to the lifts; otherwise it can be a bit of a walk as the hotel is quite large.

All in all, no complaints other than the price.

Perfect location at the base of Mount Snow. The room and the bed were super comfy. The room definitely had a condo feel to it minus the kitchen. Loved the duvet cover - very Scandinavian. Wireless in room, which was fast. Great TV with DVD player in room.

Good food in the hotel restaurant too. There is a separate deli that sells groceries and deli food as well. There is a ski/sports shop downstairs. Everything you need is here! Friendly staff and great service. Spa has two hot tubs and a pool - all outdoors - perfect for après-ski. There is also a sauna, steam room, and gym with some great cardio equipment. This place is awesome. Ski and stay packages give you a discount too.

went with 4 friends for new years. although the hotel seemed over run by kids, it was surprisingly ok. i didn't make it to the hot tub/pool, but was told it was filled with every hotel guest once the trails closed. we had a first floor room that overlooked the mtn. the view was awesome. the room was decent, typical hotel room. there are two sinks, one outside the the actual bathroom, so that was convenient when four women were trying to get ready. everyone was exceptionally nice. the valet service was a dream, they dropped off/picked up every night to restaurants/bars the included breakfast was perfect. the only drawback, don't ask questions, nobody could give us the same answer twice. but don't forget they are all friendly, so it made up for it. the private lessons were unexpected as group lessons were sold out, so we each paid $100bucks. since i wasn't very good, i didn't use my lift ticket, so a bit of a drag. also they told us conflicting lesson times so when we showed up we were told group and indiv lessons start at different times. in the hotel, our lights went out one night when we were using two hair dryers and the back door out to the deck didn't lock so we had to call someone and they arrived quickly.

Crowded, bad service, out of equipment (so we couldn't even ski). Sadly, a big waste of money.

My stay at the Grand Summit Hotel was amazing. My friends and I were treated like royalty. We were snowed up there after the Dew Tour due to a blizzard and the Grand Summit Hotel refused to let us drive 2 hours home in the awful conditions so they gave us a discounted room for the night. My friends and I made life long friends with the employees and we now go there to celebrate birthdays and family gatherings. The Grand Summit Resort Hotel earns all the stars they could possibly get.

The Grand Summit at Mount Snow is a nice base lodge hotel with above-average amenities, and potentially above-average hallway lengths. The gym and pool are great, and the rooms are very comfortable with good linens, towels, etc. and comfortable beds. My only gripe is the length one must walk to an elevator - people, if you've skied or mountain biked all day, you could still be in for a walk. Older travelers should request central rooms.
