Description: Michael's on the Hill is located within a circa 1820 farmhouse, picturesquely set on a hill, with breathtaking views of the Green Mountains. The restaurant can comfortably seat 84 guests, and has a full bar with a piano lounge and outside porch available for dining. We boast a large enclosed wrap-around porch dining room (with a view from each table) and a beautifully renovated barn room where guests may dine in luxury, all the while being reminded of the history of the barn. Michael's on the Hill emits a sophisticated charm without the pretentious attitude so commonplace in a restaurant with fine food. We offer locally driven, innovative European cuisine and a welcoming, refined atmosphere. When it comes to elements as vital as flavor, taste and preparation, a great respect for the ingredients must exist. As we believe, a chef's ego should never outshine the true stars, the ingredients. Our dishes are innovative, flavorful and fresh, focusing on local ingredients, and created in a European style. The evening always turns Michael's on the Hill into a romantic, warm, and festive atmosphere for guests to enjoy dinner expertly created by Chef/Owner Michael Kloeti. All dinners start with a warm, linen-wrapped sourdough baguette, sweet butter, and a bowl of marinated olives. Whether sitting near the fire, or on our grapevine-surrounded porch, guests are enveloped in a pleasing comfort, while enjoying the piano and personalized attention. Come for a visit, and allow us to share conversation, hospitality and a bit of home.

As always, our best meal in Vermont during our summer stay. The menu is well thought out with so many choices it is hard to pick! No mediocre food here. Excellent Martinis. The appetizers may have some standard items but they will have an upscale twist on presentation and taste. We so enjoyed the calamari....fried, yes, but with a frisée salad presentation...none of that marinara stuff! Our mains were fantastic. Two orders of filet which were reported as wonderful and done to perfection and two orders of lobster bouillabaisse. It was like no other bouillabaisse that I have ever eaten. Desserts topped the meal with a supreme chocolate-chocolate choice and a fresh fruit torte with peach ice cream. Not one grumble from anyone...the atmosphere is pleasant and the number of diners on a Sunday evening is a testimony to the quality of the meal.

Outstanding meal and ambience. If you are in the Stowe/Waterbury areas, Michaels on the Hill should not be missed. I had the halibut which was cooked to perfection, my partner had tenderloin also cooked to perfection. Amazing meal!

My visit was as part of a large group brought together for a business conference. The restaurant handled the large group with ease. The food and service were quite good and a very nice wine list was provided. I especially liked the truffle fries served with a delicious steak.

We attended a wedding reception at Michael's on the Hill two years ago and the menu was outstanding. My husband had beef and he said it was the most tender he had ever had. I ordered gnocchi, my first time trying it, and it was excellent. The location, decor, etc. were delightful. We would go there again.

This chef owned restaurant was superb. The sunset is so beautiful to enjoy while selecting our meal. The dinner was beautifully prepared and served by well-trained and very pleasant staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and recommend you plan ahead to reserve your dinner here.
