“Great food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2014

What a great spot! The food was delicious. We had pork rinds, hush puppies, kale salad, chopped pork, brisket, Brussels sprouts, collards, macaroni salad and cole slaw. The apps were hit the spot. These may have been the best hush puppies I've ever had in a restaurant. The pork and brisket were delicious. I love the NC BBQ sauce on the pork. The mac salad and cole slaw were just ok but overall, the meal, the service and the drink selections were fantastic. The place was packed but our server still took the time to make some suggestions and to chat with us (thanks John!) A couple we met on a trip to Venice, Italy recommended this place. So glad we listened!

“Great beer, Wine, and other alcohol list. Average food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014

I dont feel the overall trip advisor rating is accurate for this place, unless it was referring to just the beer and alcohol selection, which is amazing. However, the food was only average and fairly expensive. Ordered dry rub wings which were less than average, the cheese burgers were tiny (my dad who is not a big eater had to order two). The arugula salad was pretty good though, and the duck fat fries were ok but overpriced. This place is basically a bar, with a very large selection of libations, and average food. The menu definitely did not reflect a BBQ place.

Furthermore, we came with a very large party and despite there being plenty of seating on a sunday afternoon, the hostess was snappy and unaccomodating. She was not friendly or helpful at all and seemed overwhelmed, but the other wait staff was pleasant.

“Good food and fun atmosphere!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2014

The food was really good, bbq with a twist. The homemade sauces are great and the drinks are fun and inspired. The bar area is nice, but not a lot of seating overall. Only downside was the noise level. They could have turned down the music a bit, it was unnecessary.

“Great NC BBQ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

We visited the Pig for the first time. This is a very busy restaurant (on a Friday night). No reservations and finding parking could be better. However, parking was found close by (walking distance) and the wait was 30 minutes. Not bad for a Friday night with no reservations and full restaurant and bar when we arrived. The staff is super friendly and enthusiastically assist in decision making. The menu was difficult to choose which one to try first. The food was very good. We ordered a variety of items and all came with a choice of sauces on the table. I really like the options to try them all. We sampled the pork platter, beef brisket sandwich with bacon bbq sauce (including burnt ends, bonus!), mac & cheese, blackened beans, baked beans and fries. The Fries are the best around. They are cut thinly, served in a cast iron pan and perfectly salted. They also stayed crispy and warm all through dinner. Sorry, no soggy potatoes here. The dessert options had plenty of variety. The bacon ice-cream seemed to be the favorite as well as the banana pudding with the root beer float a close third. The bar has quite the variety of options as well. They also offer authentic southern non-alcoholic drinks (sweet tea, cherry soda, ...) in addition to Mexican Coke (real sugar). We can't wait to go back. The Pig might be our new to go place.

“Great for a quick bite and the beer was fantastic!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

This is not fine dining, so if you expect more, you'll probably be disappointed. But the beer is fantastic and I had a flatbread pizza, and it was the bomb!! We sat at the bar and the service was great. Plenty of questions were answered by the staff.
