Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: From local residents to tourists, the Green Mountain Coffee(R) Cafe and Visitor welcomes all guests to the Historic Waterbury Train Station. After a complete refresh of the interior in the summer of 2016, the landmark uniquely celebrates Green Mountain Coffee and the great state of Vermont. Adorned with photography taken by employees during the company's annual Employee Source Trips to coffee growing regions, visitors are invited to wander through the rich, 35-year history of Green Mountain Coffee(R), take part in hands-on education about specialty coffee and the roasters' award-winning coffees, and enjoy one of the staff's coffee creations in the lounge, from artfully pulled espresso to decadent Pecan Pie Supreme. The Cafe is also the only retail store where visitors can find rare Green Mountain Coffee(R) blends like Tanzanian Gombe Reserve, and also mix-and-match their own variety packs from 48 different Green Mountain Coffee(R) K-Cup(R) pod varieties in the Keurig(R) Singles kiosk.

“A Good Stop for a Cup of Coffee and Quick Snack”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

The cafe is in the train station and is a good place to stop for a beverage and snack. It is attached to a small walk-through educational program about coffee. They have a small outdoor deck and indoor seating is very limited.

“Nothing fun there, Can't believe we made the detour”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

15 minutes and that was it!
In a bedroom size room, you can read information about coffee making. That's it.

Can't believe we made the detour to see that. In 15 minutes we were out. We didn't even buy coffee for it's the same price as everywhere else.

The place is nice, it's an old train center, but that's all there is. If you are near, go have a coffee there, but don't make detours to see that.

“This is not an attraction”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Green Mountain Coffee listed as an "attraction" is a joke. It's a coffee shop. That's it. The other reviews said it all. My experience is that it was hard to find, as it was not listed at all in the GPS in our rental car, so that made it all that more of a disappointment when we finally found the place. They ask for a "suggested donation" of $1.00, which is a total joke! Donation for what? To walk in? There is no guided tour, there are some coffee posters, which is fine for a coffee shop, but in comparison to a real tour, like the Cabot Cheese tour or the Ben and Jerry's tour, this is a pathetic excuse for a tour. The only reason I give this review a "poor" and not a "terrible" is because the coffee I ordered was very good. The staff however, were not friendly at all.

“More off a store than a visitor center”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

There is an area where they show videos of how they process the coffee but nothing worth a detour. There store sells coffee, pastries and fair trade products which was nice.

“Nice visitor and retail center”
Reviewed April 13, 2012

Spent time loading up on coffee tea and other treats. Had a nice piece of quiche. Then took a tour and wonderful video about the factory and history of Green Mountain Coffee factory. Workers were really helpful and informative.
