This is a solid not spectacular dining choice in downtown Waterbury. We chose to sit outside on their deck that is in the front right along Main St. It could be a little noisy with all the traffic which amounts to a main route, Vermont 100. The server was prompt and attentive. The menu is typical Vermont, trying to support local growers and producers. With that said I think the menu doesn't vary, but seems to have a couple of nightly specials. There are choices ranging from appetizers to sandwiches and full entrees. We didn't try it but the burger served to several customers looked very appetizing. Portions are generous and the price points are very much within a family's budget.

Dinner was very average. The wait for the food was pretty long considering the restaurant was not even close to full. The only thing good about our experience was our waitress named Kim. She was friendly and helpful.

You won't likely find anything too surprising on the food menu - fairly regular salads, burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. They have a good bar with nice local beers on tap (as well as Guinness). We stopped for lunch and then as our dinner choice had a long wait, we came back for dinner. Nothing stood out as really good, but nothing would keep us from coming back either.

-Free parking is available on the street--I'm absolutely loving Vermont's lack of meters and permit parking! We parked around the corner after the three-way intersection.
-Restaurant is bigger than it seems--a crowd on the front patio doesn't necessarily correlate to a wait.
-Our server (Steven) made great recommendations.

Food:
-The True Vermonter (sandwich) is hot and grilled, though this is not indicated on the menu. Great mix of sweet, salty, and creamy.
-Broccoli salad option is worth it--sweet with chestnuts, raisins, broccoli, and a light coat of sweet mayo.
-My wife says the Tex Mex Nachos are better than Los Gatitos (Yellow Kitten Tavern on Block Island, RI). Definitely more traditional--good bean to cheese ratio.
-Kids menu has some great options. My three-year-old loved the broccoli-cheese penne...as did I (the portion is large--I'm not starving him)!

It's obvious these folks make a point of using high quality ingredients and are committed to a handful of food-related causes if you're into that. If that's what's making the food taste so good, than I am too!

We ate here with a group of friends. The food was good and the service was fast. I had a spinach salad with chicken and it was great! The vegetables were fresh, chicken was not overcooked, and the dressing was nice, not overpowering! Others in the group had the burgers and sandwiches, mixed reviews from, "good to great." Although there was a musician playing that evening, the music wasn't too loud and we were able to hold conversations at the table. Nice find in Waterbury!
