“Corny but fun!”
Reviewed September 24, 2009

We visited Ben and Jerry's in Vermont Labor Day weekend, we arrived on the Friday of the holiday weekend and had checked the web page to make sure they would be open and producing ice cream. The web page said yes but they would not be producing on Monday of the holiday, no problem.
Very bright and cheery place, tons to look at including a cute gift shop you can't avoid in order to take the tour.
We bought our ticket's, $3 each and headed off for the tour, first you watch a short movie then your guide takes you to the production area, well guess what. They had decided to give the employee's the day off so no production happening so again we watched a short movie and looked at the empty production room.
We were then taken to the tasting room where we were given one small sample of "Cookies and Cream" and that was it.
Then you walk right back out into the gift shop, some cute stuff but over priced.
It was cute, now I can say I have been there but I don't need to do it again. Been there, done that!

“Ben & Jerry's fun place, great Ice Cream”
Reviewed August 29, 2009

Ben & Jerry's Ice cream tour a fun place in Waterbury Vermont. A great tour of one of the finest Ice Cream plants in the country. Some realy great Ice Cream with some great and different flavors. A great place to take kids and for Ice cream lovers. A short tour with samples that you will have to wait for. The most visted tourist attraction in Vermont. They even have a flavor grave yard there where you can visit the retired flavors. Be prepared to wait in line for Ice Cream.

“Not worth the hassle”
Reviewed August 27, 2009

I am sure that if you are reading this, you too like Ben and Jerry ice cream. That is all there really is to like in the factory tour; that and the gift shop.
The tour itself is boring and probably doesn't include much more information than can be obtained by contacting their PR directly. It starts out with a movie with the history of Ben and Jerry, followed by a birds eye view of the manufacturing (which although was supposed to be active according to the preliminary phone call that I made; was not) assembly floor. This is presented by briefly showing the 8 stops the ice cream makes prior to it becoming a pint. After this short presentation (my guess would be 5-8 minutes), the group goes to have a free ice cream sample. Don't expect to choose a flavor; they were promoting something and that's what we got.
To summarize, the gift shop is bountiful, the ice cream shop is very good (with access to all flavors) and they graciously gave my son a new cone after he complained that he didn't like his initial choosing. The posters with promotions from early years are very enjoyable. Alas, the tour itself is a disapointment.

“OK but a little dissapointing for a B&J fan”
Reviewed August 15, 2009

Although cheap, the tour was very short and did not tell you an awful lot. Only one free sample (although very nice). Don't go out of your way for this, but worth the visit if you are passing.

“Not a MUST See”
Reviewed August 7, 2009

Have been a Ben & Jerry's ice cream fan for quite a number of years. We were in New England (from GA) and decided to visit OZ, see where the magic happened. Sorry now I looked behind the curtain. Its just not worth the time we took out of a vacation to see.
