This was going to be a very special trip, I was coming from the Midwest to spend 3 days having a memorable weekend with my family from southern New England. From all the pictures and reviews online we were really looking forward to our weekend in this lovely inn. As soon as we checked in, and entered our room, we all knew that our expectations had been way to high. The unfriendliness of the innkeepers continued from the moment of check in right thru until we left. The parrot located in the parlor spoke more to us than the dad and his son Jack did. They never offered to help us to our room, questions regarding resturants and the area were unhelpful. Even when we inquired about the availablity of coffee or tea in the evening it seemed like we were a bother. We had booked Suite 1, online it looked perfect with a very homey pretty suite ..I love shabby chic, however, this room was more shabby than chic. The complete suite needed painting and a good cleaning. The charm of the victorian era was not seen in this suite with period furniture, it was furniture that would have been bought at a lower end consignment shop. However, we all did agree that the beds were comfortable. There was such an unpleasant smell to the room that we even bought candles to try and help but it didn't. The only friendly person was the lady that was there during our breakfast experience. The pictures online of the breakfast table were definitely staged. Offered were a small amount of fruit and muffins. There was nothing special about any of the food offered that you would expect from an inn that has a AAA rating. However, several of the resturants in town where we had lunch and dinner had wonderful food and Waterbury, Vermont is a treasure with a pleasant home town atmosphere, and nice people. Our recommendation for The Stagecoach Inn is definitely one Bed and Breakfast Inn that you should just pass on by.
