What a throwback to good old family fun. The new owners have spared no expense to bring back a great family friendly escape. It has both bar seating and a dining room downstairs. There is a big living room type area with games, couches and chairs. It can get a bit busy on Saturday nights during ski season but you can reserve seating for one of two seatings for their dinners, otherwise you can order from a menu in the pub. This is what a family restaurant should be.... a safe place that is fun for both kids and adults alike. For those without kids, don't be afraid to visit as it has a fun bar scene too and isn't only about families. If you are a single traveler, head to the bar, grab a seat and enjoy meeting new people or the friendly bar tenders. You won't feel like you stick out. Not the best food in the valley but good steady food at a good price.

Dinner is served both in the upstairs and the downstairs dining rooms. I you love kids and noise head upstairs. For peace and quiet and beautiful attentive table service the downstairs is best. Both greeters and servers were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu choices. Burgers are best. Although they have a house special burger, they have a "build your own" option. I prefer the blue cheese and bacon with baby salad greens burger. My fries were "deep brown" and I think the chef uses the twice cooked technique to achieve this effect. Yes, the fries are outstandingly good. Vegetarian entrees are available. They have a small but well thought out wine list with many low priced, but winning selections.

Recently visited the UPSTAIRS pub at Mad River Barn. The atmosphere is great with picnic tables, couches and plenty of games to keep kiddos occupied (e.g. foosball, air hockey). The menu is somewhat small, but have enough variety to suit most tastes. The service was very attentive and efficient. Highlights of the meal included the bison burger, gazpacho and fries. The room is somewhat loud, but if you're looking for a relaxed meal, its a great place to visit.
