“Monday night surprise!”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

We visited Peasant a few Monday evenings ago. What a surprise to have GREAT LIVE BASS and GUITAR music. We went with friends who also enjoy music. Food was wonderful and the live music made our autumn evening complete!!!

“Wonderful Atmosphere - Fantastic Food”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We had dinner there for our anniversary and it was wonderful. The “Pork Osso Buco” was wonderful and very filling. The local heirloom tomato salad was a real treat, I am sure that will be off the menu shortly as the local crop vanishes, get it while you can. The owners made the rounds of the tables greeting everyone and thanking them for coming, it made everyone feel very welcome. The wine list is good and includes two wines from the owner’s vineyard in Warren Vermont. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, much of which is locally sourced. If you are visiting the Sugarbush area, made sure you have dinner at The Peasant.

“Go try Peasant - a great new Mad River option”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

I went to Peasant last night with 4 colleagues and had a really fabulous experience. Mary Ellen is a warm, inviting host (who also happens to be a yoga instructor) and gave us a great welcome. The restaurant just opened in the last few weeks and it was hopping - especially for a Monday night. Everyone in our party loved their food. Cassoulet was a hit, Salmon was perfectly cooked. The ice cream is exceptional and is cut/molded rather than scooped - a fun visual. The local white wine was surprisingly good too.

A great addition to the local food scene. Try it.
