“GREAT VALUE FOR SUBS”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Great sandwich values and nicely made subs. The "VG" is basically a convenience store like the 7-11 chain. The VG does have a kitchen that does turn out delicious subs and sandwiches. In the morning you can get scrambled eggs and other standard breakfast items. There is a wrap around porch with tables and chairs. Atmosphere inside and outside could be easily improved with a scrub down and a fresh coat of paint. Yes, they do have the Cremme soft ice cream.

“Like an "aerial refueling" on the Access Road!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 10, 2012

A splendid little stop for all those little accouterments one needs for a vacation visit. Nice sandwiches, great selection of beers, large selection of supplies, wonderful, fresh french bread! Quick, efficient, personable service...!

“Delicious Food, Huge Portions and Reasonable Prices”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2011

We ordered turkey and Vermont cheese sandwiches on a roll and were amazed to see how large they were. We probably could have split one between the two of us. My husband ordered French fries, which was on special for only a dollar with any sandwich, and there were enough to feed three or four people. They also sell homemade pizza and soups, and convenience items. We got there just in time, because while we were eating our food, the line of locals got quite long.

“A surprisingly awesome sandwich”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2011

We were simply passing through Waitsfield when hunger struck. Not being that familiar with the area, and only wanting a sandwich, we came to the Village Grocery & Deli. After entering the store, I was afraid of what I might get as by all outward appearances, it was more convenience store than deli. However, after finding the small deli area and parusing they extensive sandwich list which included pesto chicken, chicken cordon bleu and many other delights, my mind and stomach were put at ease. I ordered a small turkey bacon and swiss on a baguette and my husband opted for the aforementioned chicken cordon bleu. We hung out in the deli area while our sandwiches were made and the owner came over and made friendly conversation, telling us about an upcoming promotion for the following week where you could play the wii in the deli area for discounts off your lunch. That sounded awesome.. only wish we were locals, which is seemed like there were many of as the time making our sandwiches ticked by. The weather was amazingly warm for Vermont in March so we opted to take a space at the small table on the large wrap around porch to eat. My sandwich was fantastic. The baguette delightfully crunchy on the outside with a soft, chewy center. My husband's large chicken cordon bleu was almost too big for him to handle, but he forged on through. Throw in a large bag of chips and two drinks and we came in under $20 for a delicious lunch. Don't let the gas pumps fool you, the Village Grocery & Deli will not disappoint!
