“Wonderful Vacation Experience”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the Weathertop Mountain Inn. After visiting the
Valley after 20 years, we were overwhelmed by the positive reviews that we read regarding the Inn. Needless to say we gave it an A+ for cleanliness, attentiveness, conversations with the innkeepers, location, and the wonderful food. We spent four nights there, and ate dinner there twice during our stay, and decided when we go back we will have all our meals at the Inn.

Kudos to the wine selection and prices, and owners who really know their wines. They also have a wonderful game room. This Bed and Breakfast is an absolute must try.

Best of Luck,

Bill & Donna
Longmeadow, Mass.

P.S. Best pancakes ever, and their Asian dinner experience is an absolute must.

My wife and I went on a mini 2-night Vermont getaway and we stayed at the beautiful Weathertop Mountain Inn. Our room, the Robert Frost room, was excellent -- spacious, very clean, beautifully decorated. We both enjoyed the grounds and facilities. The 4th floor games room was wonderful. We played pool and some board games while watching the U.S. vs Canada womens' soccer game.

The breakfasts were amazing as was the 'Asian Dining Adventure' where Lisa and Mike prepared an outstanding 4-course Asian meal.

Both my wife and I enjoyed our stay at this Inn very much and we both highly recommend it. We look forward to another visit to the Weathrtop Mountain Inn.

While planning a two-day trip to the Burlington, Vermont area we initially scoped out Burlington hotels and ultimately decided that there was nothing special or "Vermont" about staying at a major chain hotel or in a city, so my wife started looking into B&B's in the nearby mountains (and there are lots of B&B's to choose from). She gave me a list of her top choices to check out online. We unanimously agreed that the Weathertop Mountain Inn was the place to go with and we were not disappointed. The inn is charming and the inn owners, Mike and Lisa, were gracious hosts. Breakfast both mornings was “superb”. The Mad River Valley area that the inn is located in is beautiful. We were so enamored with the Mad River Valley and the surrounding towns that we ended up spending very little time in Burlington. Our stay at the inn made our trip to Vermont special, we would never have gotten that type of experience if we had stayed at a chain hotel! Highly recommend the Weathertop Mountain Inn for its location, atmosphere, accommodations, service, and value!

Sounds like you've discovered why Weathertop Mountain Inn is not your typical country inn! We thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Should your schedule permit, you might enjoy a future visit to the Brewgrass Festival in June or the Siptember Festival this fall. Both will be showcasing some of the best brews around.

After an enjoyable week traveling the lovely state of Vermont, my husband and I were beginning to miss our own home. Having the luxery of relaxing in the common room (and we were lucky enough to have it privately for a couple of hours) made us feel almost at home. Lisa and Mike were very helpful and congenial; we especially appreciated the in-house wine selection, comfortable beds and furniture and discussion about Vermont. Enjoyed meeting Harley and Violet, too !

The Weathertop Inn lived up to other excellent reviews. After a hot day of cycling the hilly roads near Waitsfield it was a treat to return 'home' to Weathertop. Mike and Linda are wonderful hosts. Dinner can be ordered in advance, and we found it superb. With fresh and tasty local ingredients, indeed a foodie's treat - love the blue cheese topped bison, and the delectable rhubarb ice cream. And what a wine cellar! Rooms are well appointed with Americana-themed decor, spotlessly maintained and comfortable. The Gilchrist &Soames toiletries are a nice touch. The breakfasts were all delicious, and what great variety. Not every B & B has such a wide selection - 3 mornings and 3 different choices and we didn't exhaust the menu. The property is comfortable and casual with a spacious common room highlighting the owners travel mementoes. We were here in late June, so no fireplace was lit, but it was easy to imagine a crackling fire after a day on any of the nearby ski slopes. All round top marks and a lovely stay.

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent visit. We are pleased to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. As for that rhubarb ice cream...wow!! A little experiment that was wildly successful. We couldn't keep enough of it in-house. Apparently, there are many rhubarb lovers out there. We will be making the last batches of the season this week. We will be sad to see it disappear, but will certainly have something to look forward to for next spring! We hope your future travels bring you back to the Mad River Valley.

This is a really nice place to stay we just stayed there first full weekend in July. Mike and Lisa are very freindly and the included breakfast was excellent many months now i will be comparing pancakes and saying not as good as Mike's.

Another plus was they hada special breakfast for us runners early on Sunday that was something i had never seen before (btw, the Inn is not a "official" hotel of the marathon) but I think it was great and i would love to see it again.
As a final gesture they even let me come back for a nice shower.

Highly recommended

Wow!

Weathertop Mountain Inn is a fabulous place to stay if one visits the Mad River area in Vermont. The rooms are very comfortable and are interestingly 'themed'. We stayed in the Charles Orvis  room,  bedecked with fishing artefacts. There is space to relax in a stunning Great Room that has a cozy log fire in winter time evenings. The hot tub is so good after a hard day skiing and there are three ski areas just a few miles away.

And then there is the food!

Go for the meal package as this is great value and I doubt the quality and service is bettered anywhere in the area.  There is a large stock of great wines and beers that are also excellent value.  There is absolutely no point in going out in the evening for a drink and/or meal.

Mike and Lisa, the innkeepers, work very hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The inn is furnished with artefacts they have collected from their travels and there are many interesting reference books to look through. For those with a bit more energy, there is a well-equipped games room.

Well done Lisa and Mike for giving us, yet again, such a quality experience!

We shall return!
