The food was excellent. However, the host, who apparently is also the chef/owner, seemed to treat all of his customers with thinly-veiled disdain. The ordering system is unconventional, but there is a small, helpful sign at the register that instructs you on how the system works. Patrons were slightly confused. An older lady asked for her soup in a bowl with a handle, because she appeared to have a tremor that made it difficult for her to lift her spoon to her mouth, and the server snapped "we don't have those; here, use this", tossed (yes, tossed!) a mug at her, and promptly walked away without helping to put the soup in the mug! Another customer, who witnessed the exchange, came over to help her (before I had a chance to).
Bad service aside, the food was fabulous. Hot and fresh and creative with the perfect blend of ingredients. All of my dining companions agreed; everyone's meal was delicious. Now that I know the routine, if I'm ever in Waitsfield again I would go there just for the food and avoid eye contact with the waitstaff unless absolutely necessary! Or, I'd go to Mint which was just around the corner with much nicer staff!
