Jan 18 to Jan 22 / English Room - This was for our annual trip without kids so always looking for it. The barn itself is just amazing, wonderful and I can totally understand that more than half of their business comes from the weddings. From my discussion with the staff they do between 40-50 weddings a year. You need to be in a special mood to really appreciate this place since its pretty old even if it was renovated some time ago. Let me explain, the rooms are nice but the furniture is not in the best conditions and too me the worst part is obviously the lack of soundproofing. In our room, I could clearly hear the person in the other room while they were in their bathroom and I will skip the details for your own good. I talked to other guests and they found that the sound is a big issue. Some people got there on the Friday night at around 1:00 o'clock and were talking very loud, I could hear all the words they were saying. Enough with that.
The breakfast are very big and delicious. There are 6 tables but only 2 for couples so you need to share your table which could be annoying for some because the Round Barn is in my mind a couples gate-away.
My favorite time of all the weekend was the snowshoe dinner which is a great experience. Its a great dinner with wine and beers that you can ask the staff to bring for you. You snowshoe for 30-40 minutes in order to get to the small house in the wood. They make a nice fire outside and if weather is on your side you can enjoy the night out. We also did some cross-country skiing in a nice place nearby.
I gave a 4 on 5 mainly because of the snowshoe dinner and breakfast in the morning. I know some people have been doing there for many years and as a result will not like my comment but some updating needs to be done, for example in the basement. It was a nice experience but I will not go back.

Thank you for sharing this with us! We take great pride in ensuring our guests have a great experience and are always happy to hear when our staff makes that happen. We also appreciate when guests share ways we can improve. Since the inn was bought in the early 80’s, we continually update the property. During four weeks of the year (two in spring & two in late fall) we take time for major renovations. This past spring we updated our Wait Room and in the fall we renovated 3 guest bathrooms in the Jones, Terrace & Richardson rooms. Our goal in renovations is to maintain the history of the property and provide guests with more modern amenities. Soundproofing can certainly be a challenge, especially when we have a full house. This is something we're actively looking for solutions for and are always happy to accomodate on the spot solutions if it's brought to our attention during a stay.

Breakfast at the inn is an experience like no other! During busy weeks (such as President’s Week) some of our couples will dine with other guests at larger tables. Many couples prefer tables set up for four or six people; it’s a great opportunity to meet other couples and learn about their travels. We serve from 8:30-9:30am and generally there is a period when the dining room is full earlier in service.

One of the many great things about the Inn at Round Barn Farm is that we’re open for all four seasons. Guests that have visited during a busy holiday week have returned during quieter times and had a totally different but equally delightful experience. We will continue to provide the best experience for all who visit, and we sincerely hope that this guest couple will give us another try on their next romantic getaway.

The Inn at Round Barn is our favorite place to stay and relax, whether it's after a day on the nearby slopes, or just a day of wandering the Mad River Valley. Convenient location, considerate staff and thoughtful amenities make this inn very memorable. As you arrive, a staff member greets you and acquaints you with the inn, and assists in dinner reservations if needed. Later, the freshly baked cookies and happy hour apps get you back in time to relax before continuing your evening. The rooms are all beautiful and it's hard to choose one over another. We loved the Richardson with a comfortable bed and fireplace. Breakfast is outstanding, preparing you for a full day of activity. Will return here again and again

Room Tip: They are all beautiful and well appointed. Those with fireplaces are very cosy in the winter.

The Inn at the Round Barn Farm is a peaceful paradise. Unlike other B&B's we've visited, the facilities here are spacious, yet every public room at the inn is cozy and provides the same comforts one would feel in his own home. The owner, Anne Marie and her very warm and capable staff are beyond helpful, caring for each guest's personal preferences. This is a well-run Inn that is a paradise after the chaos of a big city. Cooper, Anne Marie's dog, plays a starring role in making each guest feel welcome! The billiard room, with its fabulous supply of games and a second kitchen is stocked with drinks and treats especially for the guests. Afternoon cookies and hors d'oeuvre are a special treat and breakfast is a sumptuous feast! No detail is lacking in the Inn, especially the hospitality and love! Our private bedroom, with fireplace, sent our dreams into new and creative places. This Inn is a precious gem among gems! Our sunset photos, taken during a snowshoe trek are valuable remembrances of a perfect getaway for my husband and me!

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Dana" room, with its high ceiling and exposed beams....this room echoes...

I've lived in Vermont for over 25 years and 4 of those 25 in the town that the Inn at Round Barn is situated Waitsfield, Vermont. Following a trip back from living on the West Coast for a couple of years I had the opportunity to stay at the Inn at Round Barn. It was everything I had expected it to be and more. A feeling of serenity, charm and comfort pervades. The setting, the cows, the fields, the furnishings, the rooms, so beautiful. The breakfast was beyond wonderful. If you're looking for true Vermont, this is it. The Sterling room was amazing.

Room Tip: The sterling room was on the main level. Expansive views of the back meadows. Spacious and close to...

A caring, attentive staff. Warm, comfortable and clean rooms. Great breakfast that changes every day using fresh and local products. A multitude of suggestions for local sites. Located near the quaint, quiet village of Waitsfield, a mile from Vermont's oldest in use covered bridge, there is nice shopping in small shops featuring local arts and crafts - check out Everything Bright and Beautiful (and the twin owners too!). We will come back!

Room Tip: Check out the rooms with a steam shower.

Just got back from a winter getaway at The Inn at Round Barn Farm in Vermont...
which is [in my opinion] the best place you can find to do a winter getaway.

Here's why you should go there...
the staff is friendly, professional and acts just like the family member who knows the inside track to finding all the best things to do, places to eat and discoveries that you'd enjoy.

From impeccable rooms,
Charlie's breakfasts...
the best B&B breakfasts I've ever enjoyed in the US,
the afternoon cookies,
and the early evening appetizers...
or a recommendation about where to go or what to do,
the people at this inn really know how to take care of you.

SIgn up for the "Farmhouse Dinner" if they do one in the time you're there...
or participate in the night time "Snow Shoe Dinner" if you can.
You get to meet all the other [very interesting] guests,
and enjoy Chef Charlie's masterpieces at the Farmhouse Dinner,
or trek out to enjoy an old fashioned wood stove cooked extravaganza in the woods...
complete with Artisan Cheeses, Figs wrapped in bacon, a wonderful stew, and toasted marshmallow "samores" cooked over an outdoor bonfire.

And don't forget the outdoor activities...
they have wonderful snow shoe trails on their land,
as well as being close to the best snow shoeing I've found in New England...
and for skiers...you're just next door to SugarBush and Mad River Glen.

And if that's not enough there's cross country skiing at nearby Ole's,
and dining out delights at American Flatbread, Peasant, Common Man, and lots of other places nearby.

Let's just conclude that I've enjoyed all of the fun and leisure of jacuzzi relaxation at the Inn at Round Barn Farm...
trust me,
you'll enjoy it!

Laura [6 year veteran of winter fun at the Round Barn Farm in Vermont]
