The Vergennes Laundry for breakfast or lunch and the Black Sheep next door for dinner and you have had the perfect foodie experience in Vermont. Dine alfresco on the patio and enjoy the Vermont evening. No wines over 35 dollars and the Malbec was excellent. The fish was perfectly cooked and all the entrees were fresh and artfully presented. Service was attentive and professional. The Black Sheep is a wonderful and most reasonably priced restaurant.

It is always interesting to find small restruants in small towns who serve food this good. From the escargot to the French fries, everything is very well done. All appetizers are $7 and all main courses are $20, interesting approach. Go, you will not be disappointed.

We had a reservation, and the weather was beautiful for eating outside. There wasn't a table for four outside, but the wait staff quickly put one together for us. The feel is very much like a French bistro - the chairs are quite authentic and people were speaking French at the next table, ala Quebecois. The wait staff was pleasant and helpful the whole evening. We never felt rushed. The gin on the rocks was as ordered but pretty meager, the only minor quibble of the evening. The appetizers all got raves - cigar wraps, romaine with black olive dressing, summer rolls, and strawberry/cucumber salad. The French fries and garlic mashed were enjoyed by all. The polenta Napoleon was exceptional for anyone, a treat for this vegetarian. The broiled haddock and chicken dish were each pronounced wonderful. Only sampled one dessert, the strawberry/ginger sundae, and it was a nice ending to a terrific evening. We'll definitely be back.

The Black Sheep is a sure bet for a tasty meal. The only thing I would like to see them do is change up the menu every once in a while. We will definitely go back.
