“a little slice of Paris in the morning...”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

In the morning the windows are steamed opaque from the wood fired ovens... you’ll smell fresh baked bread, the decor is clean, and modern, the menu is handwritten… one should allow themselves to slow down and imagine you’re in France. (it helps if you've actually been to France, otherwise you’ll think things are pretentious rather than charming bien sûr). The croissants are so light, crusty & flaky that they punish you for trying to eat them in your car. To fully enjoy this place, bring something to read, pretend you're on Paris time and your tastebuds will say merci beaucoup!

The morning bun is the best!! And try and iced coffee. Superb! My children love the little chocolate cookies.

“Fantastic Breakfast at Vergennes Laundry”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

We had breakfast here last weekend and have nothing but accolades. The granola and croissant were tremendous. The coffee is also superb. We will definitely be back!

“Great place to eat”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

Oh wow, this is a real traditional bakery that does it the old school way with a wooden fire. We loved the taste of the croissants as well as the freshly ground european style coffee. Unfortunately the menu for breakfast is limited which gives a mark down, the rest however is just great. The place has got a somewhat cool chill and we enjoyed a smooth start into the day. The croissants are huge and will last you longer than just breakfast, minimalistic but focused on quality. Go on like this!

“Better service if you speak french, a place with an attitude”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

This is a bakery with a real attitude problem. They will not sell you a baguette, only a loaf, because they use their baguettes for breakfast entrees--you can't even order a baguette. The male partner is french and definite gives better services to french speaking customers, especially repeat french speaking customers.
He is the only person who makes coffee, so on a summer Saturday or Sunday, the wait for your coffee can be really, really, really long.
The menu is printed on a long roll of brown paper towels in french, with no translation, of course. Cute, but not an effective means of communication.
The pastries are superb. But when I see a business like this, one that so intensely reflects the owners' point of view, I wonder if they are really in business to stay or are they just playing at a owning a business because their real income comes from some place else?
